Holy shit. I didn't know I was going to get dog piled;)

I guess I signed up too early. I'm not looking to lose credibility by not quitting today. I am a man of my word, no bullshit. I will quit!!

Yo Jeff, I just seen you lurking, reading all the posts. Let me guess, while you were reading you probably had some of that disgusting shit in your lip, huh? If I were you, I'd just wait until the 21st to quit, that's the 1st day of summer. There is no sense in wasting a very good fathers day on quitting chew. That's way too much stress on a guy. Then again, the 1st day of summer is on a Saturday. You don't want to start half way through your weekend, you had better wait until the 4th of July that way it'll be a real nice long holiday weekend. What do you say Jeff? I say... MAN THE FUCK UP! You come on here with that bullshit about quitting in 7 days? You'll lose credibility here very fast. Quit NOW!

I see you're still lurking

I decided after 30 years of dipping it's time to beat the addiction. This site looks like a great resource, but kind of hard to navigate. Can anyone tell me how you join a quit group. From what I gather that's the important thing to do.

Thanks, Jeff
Jeff -

Welcome and congrats on a great decision. As others have said, when you quit you're a part of a quit group which will be your "home" as it pertains to the boards here.  The quit groups are based on your quit group (so that you're hanging around with folks at a similar point in their quit). With a quit date of 6/15 you'll be a part of the September 2014 quit group as that's when you'll hit the "Hall of Fame" of 100 days quit. topic/10291235/

Also (as other have pointed out) why wait? The sooner you quit, the sooner you won't have nicotine flowing through your system. If you quit today, you'll be 100% nicotine free by the time Father's Day rolls around (it takes 72 hours for the drug to works its way out of your system). Talk about an AMAZING Father's Day present?

While picking a quit date is certainly a viable way to go, the problem with them is 99/100 they don't stick. http://blog.killthecan.org/2009/06/53-d ... -get-back/

IF you're going to go that route, I'd IMPLORE you to make sure it sticks. The better route (in my opinion) is to quit today. Buckle that chin strap and get ready for a hate filled ride of your life. Believe it or not, it'll all be worth it.

AppleJack, thanks for responding. Yes I picked Father's Day as my quit date so I could have a little bit of time gathering all my help tools, getting my mind right, and weaning off a bit.
That's my plan!
Uh yeah about gathering all your help tools.... negatory good buddie. You have all the help tools you need right here. Getting your mind right? Nope, that ain't ever gonna happen, you are an addict, addicts like to think they have their mind right. If we had our minds right, we wouldn't be addicted to nicotine. Uh and about this weaning off shit....IT DON'T WORK. So... you my man are batting 0, that's a big goose egg.

This is what you need to do: If you're married, ask the wife to go to the petri dish and get your balls. Next, you need to get pissed off, #1 because you just had to ask for your balls :ermm: and #2 because you hate that nicotine bitch. #3 take that can of dip and crush it, shoot it or however else that you want to tell it to eff off. Next.... hold on to those balls because the next 3 days are going to be a living hell. There isn't no sugar coating it. You're going to find out how well "that mind is not right." Good chances you will hallucinate , you're probably going to shit uncontrollably for a good day, if someone so much as says hello to you, you'll want to rip their head off their shoulders, your teeth will probably hurt like you won't believe... I'm sure that I'm missing something. And your asking yourself, "is it worth it?" You're damn right it is.

Realize this, there is NOTHING more important to you than quitting nicotine right now. No bullshit excuses, nothing should stand in the way of this quit. If there is one thing that you understand, understand this, you are an ADDICT. You will be an addict until the day that you die. PERIOD! Good luck  welcome to KTC.
Jeff - Haven't seen you post roll in September so you must not be quit yet. Go ahead and commit and jump on the train. Short term pain, long term freedom, one day at a time. I am 36 days quit with no regrets. Take your can, flush it, rinse it out, throw it in the trash and be quit. Then post roll and take back control.

No weaning off, Jeff. Not here. Here we quit hard. Cold Turkey. Stone cold. There is no weaning. If you are still using nicotine in ANY form, e cig, dip, chew, cig, cigar, pipe, etc., then you can NOT post roll. Posting roll is your promise and your word to all of us that you will NOT use nicotine in any form for that day for ANY reason whatsoever. No excuses.

So, are you still using nicotine??

Welcome in Jeff. Yes, you need to join a quit group. This is the glue that holds us together and keeps us accountable.

I need to know one thing first... are you quit now?

Your quit date shows, "Father's Day 6/15/2014".

?????

Yeah... we don't do tomorrow. We quit now. Given the chance the addict in you will find yet another excuse to keep using. We've seen it over and over again.

Tomorrow always breeds another tomorrow. Break your addict cycle now, grit your teeth, and quit cold turkey. Weaning yourself off only prolongs the pain.

How do you know that there won't be one dip between now and Sunday that turns healthy skin cells into cancerous skin cells? Stop playing with your life... take it back and quit now.
Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten.

Jeffin, please explain the 6/15 quit date. Let me throw this at you - dump all your chew today, and be 6 days quit for Father's Day. What a gift to yourself whether you're a dad or not!
