Welcome. Great job posting roll. You will come to realize that the simple act of putting down your word as a man on a list with other addicts giving their word to stay quit will make this different than the other times you stopped using.

Post roll first thing each morning. Keep your word. Repeat.

Yell if any questions.
PS- you just mentioned that you tried it and loved it at 13. Made me have a thought. You mentioned that your family used. My parents didn't use, but I was constantly around aunts and uncles and grandparents who smoked in the house. I'm certain that I was already an addict from second hand smoke as a kid. When I tried it later, it wasn't that I liked the taste, I think it was that I was already a nic addict and my mind and body were saying, "hey, keep this up." Maybe there's a study out there on second hand smoke and children and them being more likely to become addicts later. I'll have to remember to look.
great idea G. My folks smoked like chimneys in the car and house also. I had chronic bronchitis from the age of 4 to 17. Finally started getting better once I moved out. Now its much better. The link could be a result of them, plus I tended bar (ghey bar of course) for 7 yrs so I always came home smelling like a fargin ash tray

Welcome and congratulations on taking steps to quit for good. You will get out of this place what you put into it. My best tips are 1) post roll every day, figure out how to get help doing it if you have to, 2) read all you can to learn about the addiction you are battling- it helps and it sounds like knowledge about why you can't have "just one" was lacking for you before, 3) keep a record of your experiences here in your intro, so others get to know you and see how you are doing, and as a record for you about what you never want to go through again, etc. and 4) make friends here- for support and accountability. The stronger the network you build, the stronger you make your own quit.

Check your inbox, I'm sending you a PM with my number. I'm here to help, and a lot of others will too--- take them up on it!

Hey bro, good to see you here. You are about to realize the power of this site, the men and women who will be here to support you will be amazing. Your promise is what we want...everyday. You promise us no nic today and then keep your promise. Tomorrow, repeat. If you need to vent because of the shitty suck/fog of quitting - we're here for that too.

You know me. You know I used this site to quit. What you don't know is the unbelievable degree of support I have behind me - all from KTC and the bros here who helped and held me accountable.

You can do this. It's up to you and your promise. Keep it. I'll be here with you.

Great to have you here!

Kev, your last sentence I would like to comment on. There is no hope on this website, there is only quit. No try, no maybe, no hope, just freaking quit. We execute our plan very simply. We post roll one day at a time and we keep our word as honorable men and women. When we post early in the morning and THEN go have our coffee and that "first shit of the day crave" hits you.....well you posted roll and promised and I bet your honor and word are more powerful than nicotine. You're 48, I know you're mature enough to know this shit shortens your life and destroys the lives of the ones that love you. You have first hand experience. Time to pull up the big boy panties, call a spade a spade, admit we are addicts in the mirror, forget the past and make the future shine as bright as we can. I quit with ya...

Mogul
Feb 28th 2014 Mogul started a conversation with me the very same as he did you. Today I am glad to say that I no longer hope or try to be quit from tobacco, I JUST QUIT EVERY DAMN DAY (for the last 167 days). Mogul woke me up and I know all the quitters out here have nothing but the best intentions for you. That would be to be quit.

Welcome aboard! You've got some bad ass support behind you already. But I will reiterate the importance of roll... It is your promise to yourself and everyone on this site that for the day you will keep your word and use no nicotine. You will, if you are really committed, get involved here a bit. You'll post in an intro or 2 (or more) of other quitters. You get some numbers of other quitters and text them or call them to build a "safety net." You will start to realize that while this quit is for you, it impacts a bigger group... And you will not let your brothers down.

Yeah, I know on day one it sounds crazy. But it works. You can do this. If I can, you can.

Shoot me a pm if you would like my number. I'd be honored to be on your team.

Hello Everyone!

Buddy of mine suggested this site to me. He has been quit for quite a while and I had quit (not with KTC) October 13th, last year. I woke one morning and said "F*** this Sh*T" and stopped. Had been pretty much fine until about a month ago and thought a single dip would be no big deal. Bought a can of Copenhagen LC last week and realized I was screwing the pooch.

Long story short. Boy Scouts tried (and LOVED) Hawkins at about 13 years old. I am 48 years old now and have chewed it all; canned, pouch, twist, plug plus smoked too. I come from a long list of tobacco-holics. 2011, I buried by 67 year old father from lung cancer. I hate this addictive shit.

My longest quits have been cold turkey and that is the path I am on no. Buddy of mine and fellow KTC guy calls be daily to see how I am doing. Much hope this helps be keep the quit.

Kev
Kev,
Welcome to KTC. It was nice meeting you in chat tonight. I look forwards to watching your quit bravado annihilate days. Keep on quitting and let me know fi you need anything.
