Good morning all...Once again, I am here posting about me. Why? Because I am a proud quitter. I was a slave to the nic for almost 12 years and quitting was by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do for myself. I'm no one special, no hall of famer (yet), and certainly no standard for anyone to follow. I am just here to offer support for those wanting to quit and not doing so. 90% of us on here probably read posts from those who have quit for months before taking the plunge and doing it ourselves. You're here for the same reasons we all are...to quit. The things going through your head right now are probably what you need to listen to. "I need to quit! these folks did...I can to! I want to be in the hall of fame. I want to earn the HOF coin" You need to kick out the negative bastards in your head like 'after this can...I will on new years...after hunting season....etc" All those are a great way to NOT quit.
I posted the topic title for my day 26 roll call and realized...I'll use this. It is exactly that...want it, feel it, be it. You have to want to quit for yourself...no one else. Want it bad enough to challenge yourself and actually do it. FEEL IT....nothing in life ever comes easy. Getting rid of the nicotine in your body will suck! Days 2 and 3 will be your worse so get through the headaches, foggy feeling, anger, irritation, etc and you're golden. Someone once told me, feel the side effects and remember them. You only have to live through that once so use those ill feelings to remind yourself to never again become a slave. I didn't think I could do it. You'll think "just one pinch to knock the edge off." NO cold turkey is just that and the best way. Don't let the little devil on your shoulder push you into "one more to kill the headache"...take a damn advil and drink water. Find something that works for you like gum, seeds, jerky, smokey mountain snuff (all natural and you'll feel the burn like a 'real' dip) or any other tobacco/nicotine free alternative. You can do this.
Finally....BE QUIT. You'll always want to use dip, but you won't need it. The WANT comes from being a creature of habit. You WANT it because it's something you are used to. Shake off the want, find something else, and be proud that you went another day. Wake up every morning and post roll making that promise. You will have days where first in the morning aren't possible (I'm guilty at that) but I always make it by the end of the day. People will reach out to you, help you, motivate you, and give you the guidance YOU want. Ask them to be tough on you, text you, call you, swap numbers, etc. And you can do this. I am on day 26 and I haven't missed roll yet, I've come close a few times and trust me...I caught pure hell for it. So with this said, pull up your big girl panties, toss the can, grab nic by the balls, and take charge of you own life...you'll be glad.
