Day 10 and still not feeling euphoric in any way. Hope to have some relief soon. Ran out of fake chew last night which has really helped. Some just arrived from Amazon though so good to go today. Glad I won't ever have to go through this again.
This was a real problem for me early on. I had made it through the real rough days of quitting and I was waiting to feel better than ever, and I kept waiting and waiting and waiting. It took me several hundred days to realize that the pay off you get is not going to be physical (because to some extent dipping did not limit you physically anyway....like smoking might) Ultimately the true pay off is mental, you are in control of your actions, not your addiction.
I look back to your day 1 and early days and my take it that you're killing it. You are taking every step you can to stay quit. You are stronger than you think you are. I respect that and I believe your Nov brothers see it too. Keep it up, great things lie ahead.

I'm not saying you have to be Joe text but having some numbers could save yo ass.
^^This
I have numbers. I also have a very supportive wife. I have called her twice in 6 days. Both times she came through for me. But I do have other numbers too. Thanks for the support. Appreciate it a lot. Tomorrow is day 7. It is really cool to have quit.
Another motto around here is "take what you need, and leave the rest", so if it is working for you so far I can't argue with it.

I quit April 4th, and did not own a phone. I bought a dumb Tracphone, and sent my first text sometime in May. I spoke with my first "live" quitter this Saturday 8-2..........which was another eye opener. Hearing a live voice of someone that went through the same ordeal as you is very powerful.

I get where you are coming from, and if you have enough support without texting or phoning, awesome! Just be aware on how having digits can save a quit as well. Proud to be quit with you today brother.
I called my wife this weekend while she was at work and I was in town. She saved me. I have a question though...I have heard a lot of people say they check this site via email. I haven't figured that out. If you have any tips so that I can access while on mobile that would be great. I was driving around town and just seeing my group would have helped too. I have written down two numbers on my cave sheet I keep in my wallet. Two people that said I could call 24/7

Day 4. yesterday was really hard. I worked late to make up for lack of productivity all day. I am salary, but love working for my company and am accountable so need to get the stuff done. I have family in town. Feels great not having a can of chew bulging from my pocket, especially around nephews. Got a lot of support from the group yesterday which really helped. I am not really a "call or text" person, but appreciate the offers. Maybe because of my drinking. Who knows. Love this group though. What a great concept of men helping each other in tough times. Today, I am hoping my fake chew will come in the mail. I haven't been to a store that sells chew since I quit. Think the temptation would still be there. Even if I bought a can, I am pretty sure I would open it and dump it, but can't take the chance. I have saved $20 bucks so far in just 4 days and that is cool. :-) Hope everyone stays strong!
"I'm not really a call or text person"

You need to get over that! you cannot do this alone! I tried that exact same excuse last year when I tried to quit and I white knuckled it to day 34 and caved. If you don't make connections on here you won't make it! You can do this! I promise it gets easier! I'm not that many days ahead of you but I can promise it will get easier but you have to lean on your brothers! Pick up your phone right now and text one of people that gave you their number.!

Pm me any time!
Listen to what BRD has to say...he's walking the walk.
"What a great concept"?

If it's such a "great concept", don't fight it. Hell, if the people here told me to go buy a My Little Pony, frolick around in a pink dress, sing Justin Bieber, and wear a buttplug to stay quit...

What are you willing to do stay quit?

That is the major question. Are you willing to put up with a little pain? Are you willing to reach outside of a comfortable level and try new things? Are you willing to spend a little time NOT doing a substance, and actually pursue staying quit? Are you willing to give up some free time to strengthen another's quit? Are you willing to talk somebody out of using?

Are you interested in being quit?

"Great concepts" means that you want to participate...but aren't. Why? Well, maybe part of you doesn't want to buy into this whole "quit". Maybe you don't want to be held accountable and want an easy escape. Maybe you need to read the Welcome Center and find out why we are here and why we do what we do.

What are you willing to do to stay quit?

The ball's in your court, man. Buy in or don't buy in. Just look at what's laid out in front of you. You see quitters all the time interact and post their days. You see cavers come back saying they wished they participated last time instead of watching from afar (probably saying "great concept"). You can do this, and you have to be willing to ANYTHING to stay quit.

Anything.
I don't get it. i am here every day, a lot. Check my PM's. I don't have a cell plan that includes text messaging. I am totally here with all of you. When i have needed help I get on and post and you guys help. Don't know why I have to get over the phone thing otherwise this won't work. That's bullshit to me. you guys totally have helped me and I am quit. I even read the oath tonight on the way home, not because I was about to cave, but because I love how it reminds me how awesome this group/methodology is.
I'm not a big phone/text guy either. I have only a handful of numbers and I've never actually "talked" to a another quitter, but I will tell you this...

I almost caved ONE time and it was the immediacy of a text that saved me.

My lip was aching for a pinch, my heart was pounding out of my chest, and I had convinced myself that I simply HAD to have one.

I could have come here to my intro but waiting around for a response would have been too much time, I would have caved. I floated out an SOS text and within seconds I got a response and was talked off the ledge.

I'm not saying you have to be Joe text but having some numbers could save yo ass. Why not add another layer of protection to your quit. I'm sure a small text package on your phone wouldn't be too much.

Also, on the weekends activity on the boards can get a bit slow because I guess people are doing stuff?

Imho, it's worth the investment, chief.
