Talked to an old friend today at lunch. He is the one I haven't talked to in years, one of our favorite past times together was cruising in our trucks chewing when we were 16. I had heard he quit so I was trying to get a hold of him. He called me back today....he said it will be 2 years in October.
We then had a great conversation catching up and talking about the challege of killing the can. Great stuff and a great day.

I also talked to my parents at lunch and told them I am on day 3. They were very happy to hear I quit. My dad also had some advice and support. He quit smoking cold turkey in 1987. He went from over a pack of Reds a day to 0 and has not had once since.

I have his genes....I will never go back.

Grim,

I'm a coffee drinker and found this info to be true:

http://www.killthecan.org/robs/cafnic.asp

During the early days of my quit, I cut my caffeine consumption in half and it helped.

Hang tough buddy. Seeds, jolly ranchers, Smokey Mountain and Atomic Fireballs have helped me tremendously getting to Day 29.

You got this. I quit with you today.
thanks Boom,

Man i was wondering why my anxiety level was peaking today. I used to be about a 6-10 cup guy in the morning, now 2 is 1 too many.

My stomach hasn't been the best, even before my quit, so the coffee I had on my way to work yesterday didn't sit the best. I had tea this morning on my way into work and it actually felt good to be putting some antioxidants in my body instead of some poison. Feeling and doing good.

I am eating a rediculous amount of food though. Very hungry.

Yesterday I got into my truck to leave work and I reached for my tin. lol I actually started to laugh out loud as I said to myself.....there is no tin buddy.

It seems like my cravings are intense but very short. I almost freak out and don't know what to do but I focus on something else and it goes away pretty quick.

I had some crazy dreams the night of day 1 and slept like shit but I slept very well last night. I actually fell asleep with the TV on mute as I was praying.

Also, I started exchanging texts with a childhood friend that I haven't spoken to in years. If he was awake, he was chewing. I had heard he had quit so I wanted to connect with him. He was busy so I didn't get many details from him but I will. He said it will be 2 years in October and he would never go back!!!
Yeah, coffee does that to you. I had mad heartburn the first month or so and had to eat some pretty plain food. Watch the caffeine intake initially. I guarantee you are jittery enough without it. Drink as much water as possible instead. You won't want coffee.

Also, workout. I killed many a crave with a slow mile jog and some pushups. Hell, I took it to such extremes I ran my first marathon last week from sitting on my couch all day.

You can do this man.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. Well, I made it through the day at work.  Normally I would have had at least 4 dips so far and would have my fifth on my way home from work.  Interested to see how the evening goes.
Just like the rest of the day has.

One minute at a time.

But it is worth it, and it will get better......

P.S. You better not be using any form of nic. I do believe I saw your name on roll.
I'll tell you what's interesting my friend. Life without the poison period! It's interesting to wake up every day without being a slave to something that is stealing your freedom, money, precious life and integrity. It's interesting that each day without the poison you will learn to feel, see and taste without a cloud of krap in between your brain and senses.

Life is interesting. The only way to fully see and feel what it has to offer, you have to make it through this day without the poison. I quit with you today.

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

Regardless which of the "alternative" systems is used, eventually, there will come a day when you have to quit the nicotine altogther. That day is gonna suck because you'll have withdrawals. Regardless how far down you've reduced the dosage, you'll still have withdrawal symptoms. With that in mind, there is no difference between that day and today. Both will suck. So, why prolong the agony?? Quit today, and let the healing process begin.

I've posted it before, and I still think it's one of the best things I've ever seen here. A quitter friend of mine posted this a while back, and I keep it handy:
Quote
Scowick65:  Whether nicotine dependency was established and/or maintained by being chewed, smoked, drank, snuffed, sprayed, swallowed, sucked, licked or patched, in the end there is only one way out - no nicotine today.

The reason that nicotine gum and nicotine patches sell so well is that people are scared. They feel they can't live their lives without nicotine. However, thousands of people have quit, cold turkey, and they have lived happily ever after...happier because they're not a slave to death.

You can live without it, but you have to want to live without it.

Just do it. Don't fuck around and half-ass it. Quit. Forever.

Bro, I am on Day 9 of Quit. Cold turkey style. You don't need the patch, you don't need nicorette gum. Just man up and do it. Seeds, regular gum, smokey mountain. All are good alternatives.

What it all boils down to in the end though is YOU. You can have all the support and seeds/gum in the world. But the decision to quit and stay quit is on YOU. Embrace it. Make it your own. You can do this.
Like erussell  kcguy said: Juices, beef jerky, seeds,  exercise. No Gum, tried it once years ago, no good. F the patch too, i see way too many use it who still smoke. If you want to quit, Just Sack up  quit, otherwise... deuces
