If you read the FAQ's of nicorrette, it is not recommended for use in quitting chewing tobacco. Even if you were using it to only quit smoking, it is not very effective. Its statistics are built upon moving the goalposts.

If somebody is quit cold turkey for 6 months they have a 3 month head start on those using a nicorrette. That's like us counting a successful quit at 3 days.

Our program of posting roll, keeping our words, and repeating has waaaaay higher results than any nicotine replacement.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. I get to go down this path one time, I want to do it right. I recognize that my word, my integrety to you is on the line and is only as good as my actions. Caving is not an option in this plan-Eafman 7/11

I am not cured. I will quit one day at a time. I will continue to do what works. Posting roll everyday. To do otherwise would be foolish on my part. You can do this-Ready 12/11

To overcome your addiction you must comprehend what it means to fail-Razd 3/12

Theres a lot of people that come here, especially vets, that WANT to be reminded that they are addicts.-Tarpon 6/12

Just as a building starts with architectural drawings. Your daily quit begins with a promise.-Scowick 2/13

Here and now, focused on today, minute by minute, whatever it takes, I promise to all my bros and myself not to become a negative stat and stay quit!-krok 1/15

I was just wondering about the nic alternatives. I'm not interested in the patch or gum, etc. Just drinking water and some herbal mint, caffine free tea.
I wondered the same thing 359 days ago, and asked.

Got told the same as you. They are not to be used if you want to post roll on this site.

This is a cold jive ass turkey sight.

Fuck that shit anyway. I guy who chugs 3 fifths a day doesn't decide he wants to quit drinking and starts to "taper down" by downing multiple beers a day.

Gotta think of it like a band-aid. Don't slowwwwlllly pull that shit off, it fucking hurts.

RIP that shit off all at once. It's gonna sting for sure, but in the long run it's the best way to go.

Trust us.

this quote was posted by Quit:

Something does not need to be explicitly written to be law, something can become law simply by being. This site is a no nicotine site, that is putting it bluntly. Now you know, so explicitly stated or not, you know no nicotine.

There is a reason why it is no nicotine, nicotine replacement does not work and prolongs the pain.

Your body reacts the same way if it is not getting any nicotine or if is not getting enough (whatever you are used to). The patch calls for four weeks on a 28mg, then two weeks on 14mg, then two weeks on 7mg and you are done.

Most people here are on a can+ a day habit. The average can of chew is around 80mg. When you go from 80mg to 24mg, you might as well quit that way you do not have to suffer more when take the next two steps down.

The people here are smart people, listen and learn, I am 43 days quit today and feeling much better, if I had started with the patch I would currently be going through suck of reducing the nicotine from 14 to 7mg and have to look forward to the suck one more time as I dropped from 7mg to 0. Not to mention the fact that I would be about $200.00 lighter in the pocket book.

So my only challange to you, is when you read this, rip off the patch if you are still using it and throw the rest away, or if you went back to chewing, then flush the crap and read all of THIS and post roll HERE.

Trust me, you will thank all of us if you take one day at a time.
Complacency sucks, one moment of it is the difference between being a user and a quitter....OIB

Just get through the day. Don't think about anything else. early on my focus was replacing my dip time with walking. sounds simple and it is. plus it'll make you tired, but it really worked for me. listen to some music that makes you happy.. I carry gum now all the time. all the kids even know what pocket I keep it in..uncle always has gum..lol

I have done quite a bit of reading on here and haven't come across nicotine gum being discussed.  Does anyone know if it is allowed?  And if it isn't, why?  What are some theories as to the pros and cons of using it while quiting.
Do not use nicotine in any form, gum or patch.

You want nicotine out of your system. using Nicotine gum or patches continues to keep nicotine in your system, It will keep the physical cravings active for a much longer time.

THE ONLY WAY is 100% cold turkey withdrawal, within a week the metabolyte continine is fully out of the system, and then it is only the head games..

That said, do find non-nicotinic substitutes, sugar free gum, herbal dip (like smoky mountain),

I am 22 days into my quit, and the worst of the physical stuff over in a week.

You may experience sleep issues, and bowel issues, try valerian root or melatonin a hour before bed time take as recommended.
Exercise and stay active.

Totally nicotine-free site. Cold turkey is the only way to go. Nic gum is just a different delivery system.

Morning going well. Made a cup of coffee to sip on during my drive into work. Only a 20 minute drive, so not bad. Work should be ok but I am not looking forward to this evening at home. Cravings and the mental challege will be tough tonight.
Don't worry about tonight,. Things get tough, jump on here and start reading or jump in chat.

But for now, just simply win the next second, minute, and hour.
