Good to see you hangin in there, Cope. God knows I'm pullin for ya, and things will eventually get better.. But they will never become perfect. We're all here to go through it together though, that's the beauty of it. Give me a holler if you need anything!

Great job so far CoNo.
Today is going to suck. But, embrace it. You are more than a little tin of snuff. After you post, get on here as much as you can. Post your thoughts in your group, PM your group members, read everything you can (look back at older groups - we all went through this), jump into chat (saw you there tonight - chat is great at getting your mind off craves). I would not - repeat, would not - go into any gas station/convenience store right now. Too much of a crave. Send your wife/girlfriend/seeing eye dog/tranny friend whomever to get some smokey moutain if you need it. I sent my wife to get seeds for me during my suck. Only 7-11 has dill pickle seeds, unfortunately, they also have DeadSeal. I still dont go in there even after 48 days. Drink water and juice, exercise, and quit. All day, just for the day. Then wake up, piss, post, and quit again then next day. I'll quit with you.

Cope brother,
First three days blow. Keep it going on. If you need to go through six packs of gum each day, do it. Also, gum tends to wear your mouth out. Walk into Wal-Mart or 7-11 and ask for some Smokey Mountain -- either 'classic' or 'wintergreen' -- whatever flavor you dipped. They suck but man they allow you taste and spit dip without the nicotine.
You got this, dude. I am a 20+ year veteran of dipping and never figured I could go more than 24 hours without it (and never fucking tried!), but I'm on day 11 right now and I want to give the tobacco companies the finger. If I can do this, you can, too bro!

Cope, your on the right path with coming to the site but the mindset you have may set you up for failure. Although it is difficult to accept that you are an addict and dependent on something aka the nic, it is crucial that you accept this fact if you want to be successful in your quit.

For me, all of my previous "quits" have failed not in the first week or two, but a month or so down the road. You begin to tell yourself, "see I'm not an addict, I was able to make it this far easily" and you cave and jump right back into the can a day habit. Now that I have accepted the fact that I am addicted or whatever you want to call it, I recognize these thoughts of taking a dip as a "reward" for my quitting success, as the nic bitch sitting in the back of my mind waiting for the right time to jump in and get me back on the packing train. I have learned to tell myself that dip/nic is not an option.

Although it may not be a physical addiction to the nic, many of us have that mental addiction. In that certain situations, people, or activities are connected to dip and that forms an addiction in itself.

Everyone here is just trying to help as much as possible and the veterans have seen many people come, half-ass a quit, and then disappear, and they are just trying to help you so you don't disappear some of the others

Does anyone here chew gum?  If so, did you ever go through an entire pack quickly?  Like, when the flavor starts to die you start a new piece(s)?
yes, day 2 here and chewing gum and hard candy all day, better than grinding my teeth
As long as you aren't stuff cancer candy in your mouth we are winning. Chew gum. Chew rocks. As long as your pie hole is free of worm dirt you are on the path.
What Soul said.

As an aside, spicy cinnamon flavored gum is good for the quit.
