Welcome Tyler, you've made a great decision. A decision that, as you pointed out, might save your life.

Regardless of what it was that brought you to this point, you will need to develop a wide variety of tools to be successful. Your addiction will come at you from a lot of different and unexpected ways. You're going to be in a life or death struggle with your own brain, as it tries to justify caving in, to provide the chemical reward that you are depriving it of.

The first thing is to post roll, the second is to introduce yourself to the folks in your quit group and start exchanging numbers. It sounds intimidating now, but trust me, it will add an additional level of accountability and is vital when things are tough.

You will find that the more you put into this site, the more you get out of it. By getting involved and opening up, your commitment will strengthen. It will suck at times, but trust me, you are just on the other side of freedom and it's like nothing you would believe.

Welcome again - I won't wish you luck because there's no luck involved. Reach out if I can help.

I quit today. I recently had a family friend lose his jaw and been given a death sentence with cancer spreading to his eye and brain. With sports figures like curt schilling and Jim Kelly battling cancer and Tony Gwinn dieing from it, I can no longer avoid the inevitable outcome if I choose to continue this addiction. I've joined this group in hopes that it will hold me accountable and be the difference between my other failed attempts. I quit today August 29, 2016 for myself, my wife, and my children. I will not allow myself to be doomed and controlled by the can.
Welcome. Find your way to the welcome center and learn how to post roll. Then head over to Dec 16. Post your promise not to use nicotine today. Then keep your promise. Repeat first thing tomorrow morning. Drink lots of water and exercise as much as you can. Get to know your fellow quitters and exchange phone numbers. If you need anything send me a PM
