What am I, a horse at the Kentucky Derby?

I came here because I have a desire to quit chewing. I chose here because I thought it was a support forum, but if I'm mistaken then just say the word and I'll be on my way. I'm quitting, regardless if I do it here with you guys, somewhere else, or by myself. And I'm quitting, regardless if I 'post roll' like a few of you say I should, because quitting isn't a commitment I make to you - it's a commitment I'm making to myself and my family.

I feel like the most I've ever been judged for chewing tobacco is here on this post. Perhaps that's not true. But I'm fucking quitting tobacco.
Good for you on deciding to quit.

And here is the WORD - YOU ARE MISTAKEN.

Not in the fact that this is a support forum. We are. But we do not support half quitters. Or maybe quitters. We support QUITTERS.

You obviously didn't bother reading about this site, about the process, or why this place works. If you bring your sorry ass in here to quit, then you DO make a commitment to each and every one of us that you are quit.

THAT'S THE WAY IT WORKS - WE ALL MAKE A PROMISE TO EACH OTHER TO QUIT EACH DAY.
Hey Mike glad your quit, congrats on the first step........but

One question.

If you could do it by simply making a commitment to yourself and your family why haven't you done it already? or is this the first time you tried to quit?

The program here is simple.

You quit one day at a time.

You make a daily commitment to stay quit, by posting roll.

You support the people posting roll with you and they support you.

This program works. A few minutes a day to post roll, read others experiences etc, is a small price to pay to earn your freedom from nicotine. If you are unwilling to invest in your own quit by using the site properly, it is doubtful that your going to get much support here. The comments you got already look like tough love to me. Your here for a reason. Your in the right place. Drink the damn Kool Aid and lets get this done.

sM
"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

Mike, I don't mean to be a prick but that is just my way of fighting the bitch. I've seen too many people with commitment and good intentions fail! Ah hell I was that guy for 40 years so I recognize my weak ass attempts of quitting in others!

Glad to see you back. Your post here has a lot more conviction than the first. Some tuff love here only cause we know what it takes to pull this off. I will speak for myself, I tried to quit for at least the last 10 of the 27 years I committed to that crap. I was not ready to put the can down. I did not want to as much as I knew I needed to. They could have place a skull and crossbones on the can that said "THIS SHIT WILL KILL YOU FOR SURE" and I would not have cared.

Go post in June. Read up!

You still don't get it. If you want to quit read info on this site, especially the Welcome Center as has been told to you. It seems are are interested in quitting, but that is not what we are about. We quit. There is a different. Come play with us.

hey mike.....suggest you read read read the Welcome Center info. Read read read Intros. Read read read Hall of Fame speeches. Learn what this site is about.

After that....come back to this lil Intro thread of yours, and re-write it. I'm guessing that maybe possibly your new one will sound much different than your original.

What I'm trying to say you don't sound serious in the least little bit about wanting to quit. And you still havent posted roll yet. Means your still using nicotine. All the more reason you read the contents of the Welcome Center.....

When you're serious though....you've got a buncha support here waiting to do what they can to help you and your quit.

When you get to that point...PM me, my number's yours.

Hey, everybody. My name is Mike, and it's obvious why I'm here - I need to quit tobacco. I'm absolutely terrified of developing cancer. I bought a can about an hour ago, which I know I shouldn't have done, and I'm hoping it's my last can I want to to be the last.
Cheese and Rice, sounds like you have caved and you have not even quit yet. Dude if you want me and the rest of this group to get behind you man the fuck up. You need to say it is your last can, and you are quit! Then go and post roll! If you are so scared of cancer then use that fear to help with your quit.

Now be a bad ass, and quit with me today!

Dump it out and piss on the remains.

It WILL be your last can.
Dump it and find the WANT to quit.
You have to want this bad in order to succeed.
Flush it down the toilet and throw the can as far away from you as you can. Quit.
If you finish that can you will buy another! Listen to these guys, flush the shit and grow some balls!!! Anyone want to bet on this one making it?
Hey Mike, listen to these guys. Hope won't get you very far here, and it sure as hell won't get you quit. You might as well go wish upon a star, click your heels together or find a four leaf clover?

You see, around here we don't HOPE, we don't WISH, and we don't TRY..........WE QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So if you really want this, I mean REALLY want this, then man up, dump your shit and come on board.

That "one last can" thing is a bunch of bullshit. It goes something like this,

"I will quit tomorrow",

"one last can"

"one more weekend"

after this wedding?

after this hunting season

right after this vacation

just before this vacation

I will quit on Monday, or next week, or whatever.

You get the idea Mike?

The time is now, the day is today. What's it gonna be??
