You are on roll! That is huge! Now keep coming here each day right when you wake up and post up your promise for the day. Not at night saying "Yay, I made it!"...better as a promise in the morning being accountable to your word stating you will not use for the day. Best thing ever to do each day. It will get your through the day and then go to bed at night and wake up the next day and do it again.

This place works...many are proof that it does. Looking forward to seeing you here tomorrow.
Good...good, let the quit flow through you!  -chewie

I joined a forum for this nearly 4 years ago....after 3 days I pussed out, gave up and was afraid to try again because I just wasn't sure if I could "commit." Copenhagen has been controlling my life for the past 21 years, and this morning on the way to work I finally came to the realization that as long as I kept giving myself an out, or a choice, it was going to control me until it killed me. I have 3 young kids who ask me "why" all the time, and I get annoyed with them because I can't give them a good reason. Fact is I just don't want to accept the discipline it's going to require to get it done. So this morning, instead of having the self talk "finish this can then don't buy anymore" I spit it out, pulled up to a stop sign, held the almost full $5 can out the window, and I dumped it.
Just a disclosure, and from reading other posts I'm not alone with this.....I'm a Christian and a family man, and my job requires professionalism, but with the frustration from everyday life and my feelings on the demon that controls me, this forum will be my sounding board to unload the 4 letter words that express exactly how I feel at any given time...so at 6:30 this morning, I made the decision to say a final "fuck you" to the shit that has controlled my life for all these years, and i'm no longer going to give myself the option to give in. But like the rest of you, I need to give and receive support from people who have been there and who are there with me...no one else can fully understand.
First step is joining up...but I do have to ask, you said you joined 4 years ago? Do you have that username or any account information that you can provide (don't do it here but in a PM if you do and we can look it up and restore your old account).

Buy into this site ALL IN! This is not something to test out and see if the water is okay...you need to fully submerge and buy into this place 100% otherwise you will be here again in 4 years. Provide your info from 4 years ago and let's get that account back up and running again.
Good...good, let the quit flow through you!  -chewie

Hell yea, now we got some quittin goin on!

Take it one day at a time and read all of CBird's links he posted, they'll help you. Go to September and post up EVERYDAY, no excuses, post every fucking day. Why? Becuase it works, thats why, so don't fuck with the system.

The way I see it, is you have 2 options right now dsm

1- Go back to dipping and feel like a pathetic piece of shit for the rest of your life until the tabacco finally takes your like or..

2- Grow some quit balls and quit with us today. Yea, it'll suck at first, but embrace the suck, it'll make you stronger. You'll feel better and better then you'll look down and think, man I was a dumb fuck for dipping.

Ha
Hay guy, I am on Day 6 after chewing cope for 32 years, the thought of cancer was always there but I continued to chew any way, fucking insanity!
I was screwed with out something in my mouth as this was not only an addiction but a oral fixation. What I did was find an fake chew, started with smokey mountain, tried hooch and finally found Holt.. This one workes great. There is no salt in it so it doesnt burn your mouth as I found with the other ones. I suggest you get a can of something and use it even if it tastes like shit, It might help you. Some guys say it doesnt work for them as it is to much like the real thing, but I say what ever keeps us quit is the thing to do. Get phone numbers from guys and call them when you jones for a chew. You are in my quit group (September)ike you will hear from of the guys post roll every day. You can do it with all of us quitters!

Great decision on kicking that nasty shit to the curb. I am on day 10 and I've been down this road a time or two trying to quit. The difference now is that I'm not "trying" to quit...I'm quitting one day at a time. Be sure to post roll EVERYDAY and keep your word to your bros in your quit group. I think we are in the same quit group (September). You can do it man. Just man up and go cold turkey.
I am quit today!

Alright..I read through some of the posts and messages on this site, and it looked like it might be the answer----a support group that actually consists of people who have dealt with what I'm dealing with! So I tried the day after, thinking I'd "make sure" I could make it a day before posting anything, and I did, but the next day I had one little moment of stress at work and left the office to go get a can of copenhagen. There is 25% of that can left---thought I'd wait til it was gone and try again, but I'm dumping the rest out at daybreak. I had my last dip about an hour ago, and decided it was time to man up, and quit "waiting" until the can was empty. No more chew tonight, but tomorrow will actually be my 1st day, and honestly I'm scared to death. It's like I don't know how to react to 90% of situations without having my chew like I have for the last 16 years.....but it obviously can be done, according to many of the posts I've read. Not asking for sympathy tomorrow or the next day, just asking for prayer.
You can do it bro. I'm only on day 6 and I'm feeling better each day. The first few days were really tough for me but with every day I go without my confidence grows. Do not underestimate the power of your heart and mind, they are stronger than any tin in the world. I had some shakes and was uttering "I'm never gonna make it" as I went to bed the first few nights. Now I'm about to hit the sack with nothing but confidence that I can kick the shit out of this addiction. Even though I'm only on day 6 I'm "that guy" who thought no way this sight works and no way I can quit. After 6 days I can tell you I was wrong on both accounts. Just gotta stick with it man, and know you are not alone.
