Day 3 has been tough, did not sleep much at all last night. I've also been extremely irritable and hungry. I don't why but I was looking forward to getting up this morning and posting roll.

Welcome jcourch -

You just made one of the best decisions of your life. I was where you are less than two months ago - receiving words of encouragement and wondering, "can I do this?" Well let me tell you, the answer is a resounding YES. I dipped for 20-21 years, can a day, and for the last 9 years of those I wanted to quit but could never go more than a few hours without it. Enter the genius of KTC.org and now I'm 59 days quit.

Like those before me have said, read, read, read, and read some more. Go into chat. In fact, I practically lived in chat for the first month or so. Now I still am in chat numerous times a day. Heed the advice of those who have succeeded with this site. It ain't rocket science, but the shit works like no other program. Post roll, keep your promise, one day at a time...simple as that.

Please send me a PM if you need anything - I'm available just like everyone else here is.

Good luck and congrats on a great decision.

Posting roll this morning. Day 1 nicotine free. Actually got decent sleep last night which is surprising. I've been in this position many times before, I'm hoping this board and keep me in line when those moments creep up and get me.
Farther along than I was on day 1 man. I didn't really sleep at all the first few days of my quit. It's 13 days later and last night was really the first night I felt like I got some good sleep. Good job taking your life back.
Day 1: 09/12/2011
HOF: 12/20/2011
1 year: 09/11/2012

HOF Speech: Day 100, Just another day in the life of Timeless

Now, like all great plans, my strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it.

Congrats on your first roll call. I told you wrong. You are in December not January. I fixed it.

This site can be part of the difference between quitting and just bullshitting yourself. We have all been at day 1 and we all know that it can suck like nobody's business. I am glad you are here and because I get to see another person make a great decision, it makes me feel better about my quit. I'm 72 days in and if you need anything you send me a personal message. I'll send you one and you'll know how to do it.

Jcourch,

I addition to posting roll every morning, which is the most important thing, please read everything on this site--words of wisdom, hof speeches, intro threads etc. A sucessfull quitter is an educated quitter.

The most important thing you could ever do is post roll here every day. Do not get cocky and think that you can do this on your own. You won't understand right now but this site will mean more to your quit than you know.

Welcome Jcourch and I am proud of you that you have shown the courage to post.

This site is great and it can be what you need it to be. I found it weeks ago, and then I started rationalizing a planed quit next month. The more I read the more I realized my addicted brain was making false rationalizations to keep shoveling poison into my pie hole. I was out fishing and I kept thinking about KTC which I had been lurking on for days.

On my way home from the lake I spit out a dip, tossed a half a can walked in the door and told my wife and the kids I'm done...now, today, for good, and I showed my wife the website. It was KTC that drove that decision.

Plan quits are planeed failures, I know from experience. This site will be different for everyone, but I find a strange sense of accountability to a bunch of people I don't even know. I dont, post a lot, but I look at the site all the time, I read the posts on my computer, I get thread updates on my Android ad the KTC emblem is etched in my forebrain....and I love it.

I look forward to posting roll and do it as soon as I wake up, before my coffee, whether its 6 am in Utah or 3 am in New York City. I love posting roll because I know I will not dip that day period. Even now going into day 12, I'm doing pretty good, not ready to jump off the bridge, far from it, in fact I'm doing pretty great. Yes I want to chew, but it's funny how I see the triggers. Plop down and pull out the laptop, my nic addiction says CHEW, but I say NO. I say have a toothpick, and what I say goes. Period, end of story because I posted roll.

Sounds kinda weird I know, but I feel very empowered by the site and the extreme nature of this bunch of quitters, long term, newbies, and everything in between I have seen on this site and the level of comittmant and camraderie everyone genuinely seems to share.

Post Roll brother and lets be quit together, the first few days suck but the other side makes you feel pretty damed good about yourself, and shows you just how strong you can be.

It is a simple as Luby says!

1. Post roll call and promise not to use nic at all today

2. Keep your word

3. Repeat tomorrow

Stay close to the site......the live chat is great if you are having a tough day or sleepless night! I'm at 43 days without nic and loving life! You will too!

The first 5 days are bad....can't say it any other way......my advice is embrace the suck......really get into your mind how bad it feels.....that is one of my motivations to stay quit. Don't ever go through it again!

Proud to be quit with you today!

First time on this board just signed up. Been chewing for about 12 years, I've tried quitting at least 100 times and have up to this point failed. I've made a promise to my wife and myself this is it. If I don't quit now I know the end result will not be good. Looking for any support I can get as most people that don't chew have no idea how hard it can be. Thanks.
I know how hard it can be, we all do, but I woke up this morning and promised not to use nicotine today, I plan on keeping my word. It really is that simple here, and when I don't like it, when it's hard, I log onto this site. Or if it gets really bad I text a quit brother or nine and they help me, and if it gets worse tham that I call someone from here and we get through it together. Like you i "tried" to quit 100's of times, this is one different because I have learned that I am an addict and I can't quit alone.

Seventy days ago I joined Kill The Can and I found the help I need.

Glad you found this place as well, it is a tremendous help, I quit with you today.

Please pm me if you need anything
