Between quitting and the GI issues I've been having im ready for feeling like crap to be over with. The problem is nobody is in a hurry to find out why im hurting other than me.

Jlas,

I answered you in the group, but I wanted to respond here too. Soul is right. You have been pumping thousands of chemicals into your system by dipping each day. Your body is healing itself and re-adjusting. When I was going through this it was tough, but necessary.

Get you doctor involved in your quit.

Your body is adjusting brother. May be a little anxiety. Make sure you're drinking water, getting some exercise and eating right.

Fight through this. Your body is unfucking itself. You will be a better man. I gahrontee.

Feeling pretty rough today. Anybody have shortness of breath or feel like your heart is beating harder? Not faster but I can hear and feel my pulse in my head.

quit today as well. Try to get by just today with out that crutch. Tomorrow is another battle.
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Josh,
Listen to these guys. They know their shit. I'm a newb and I can honestly tell you that their words of wisdom, quite harsh at times, are saving my life.

You are part of the firefighter brotherhood. One of the most honrable professions. My son's babaseball coach is a battlalion chief, my wife's father was a battalion chief, and her uncle was a chief! We love you everday heroes!

Be quit. Stay quit.

I am proud to be quit with you.

My name is Josh, Im a fire fighter and I decided to quit 6 days ago. Dipped Cope, Skoal, and Grizzly wintergreen for 15yrs (at least 1 can a day).  Im only 30 so I've been addicted half my life. Been having some GI problems lately and decided it was time to quit, im sure the dip and GI problems are related. Im gonna need lots of help, everyone I work with dips, the temptation is there all the time. Think my detox has officially started today, helluva headache and a bit shaky.
Welcome aboard Josh. Stay quit and you will not regret your decision. I can tell you that if you cave, you are going to feel like a worthless piece of shit. You have made it past the tough part, now it is just mind over matter. Fuck the people that you work with who dip...YOU just arent going to do that anymore. Simple as that. Get some jolly ranchers, get some toothpicks, get some fake shit...do whatever you gotta do to keep nicotine out of your system. If you are really ready to quit, this will be easier than you think. If you are making a half-assed attempt, you will constantly struggle. Get your mind right and knock the nic bitch to the curb. You have complete control over what you put into your body. Think about that. How good does it feel to be in total control? That's what you are now. You ain't a slave anymore.

Glad to have you here. If you need anything don't hesitate to reach out. A lot of people will drop what they are doing to help you out. We expect you to do the same. Proud to be quit with you.

Great decision on the quit brother. Your life is dangerous enough without putting cancer candy in your mouth. You can do this.

jlasling,

Good choice! Congrats on 6 days quit. I quit 117 days ago--best choice of my life--it gets better as you quit each day.

What we do here is post roll in our quit group to promise not to dip that day (your group is November)---read how to post roll in the welcome center link.

One day at a time. Read everything on this site and educate yourself on this addiction.

We support you!

PM me if you need anything!
