You got kids man?  If so, look your youngest in the eye and imagine them reaching early adulthood without you around, then think about who they might go to for advice in this messed up world in your absence.  That’s enough for me to post up each day and suck it up through these first few weeks of misery.  I want to be around for him.

You gotta want it, and very much so, or you will never do it.  Find your reason to really want it.  It isn’t easy, but it does get a little bit easier each day.
Lot of truth here. To add my $0.02, you have to quit for yourself first and foremost. Heaven forbid your kids or family are lost in a car accident or something. If you attach your quit to them, then what motivation will there be to quit in a case of the unthinkable? Scenarios like this may seem like a long shot but I've seen people on here deal with horrible things in their lives. What keeps them coming back day after day is their desire to quit for themselves and better their own life.

I have kids of my own and thankfully neither of them have known their dad with a wad of cat shit in his lip. And while they are certainly a motivating factor, I quit for me.

Happy Friday quitters!

I tried (2) years ago to quit, fell of the wagon. Just turned 47 last week and going to do this!

"going to do this" is future.  I've done it.  Just do it.  Take "going" out of the equation.  Very fucking simple.  (Very fucking hard!)  Just do it for today.  Anyone can quit for a day.  Just today.  Just this minute.  Just right now.  I can do this.  You can do this.

Guess we can see how this is going to turn out. Are you Quit or are you done?
We have no way of knowing because your name is not on roll.

Dave, whats the story? I see you were here on the site around 7:30 this morning, but no new post? No promise in a quit group? Just checking things out and still trying to figure out if KTC is for you? Only one way to find out, get into July 2021 and post your promise not to use today. Wandering around in here without posting does not make quitting easier, making that promise does though. So again, Whats it going to be?

@Dagribble
Welcome... make the choice to post up today.
But answer these questions 3 so we can trust you and know you're serious!

1. What happened?
2. Why did it happen?
3. What are you going to do different so that it doesn't happen again?

Hey Naughty Wolves. This here retread quitter ( @Dagribble ) has accomplished 6 days of quit on his own...which would put him in your group.  He (?) is contemplating making a daily promise.  If you feel so inclined, shoot him a line here in Intros.  Thanks for the time folks.

Would be great to be able to talk with other quitters. The reason for falling off the wagon,

Going through a tough divorce. Felt my dip was my only friend.

Hey Dagribble. Career Fireman/EMT here as well.  It gets better.  Slow as shit but it gets better.  Make it through the day.  Close your eyes.  WUPP and repeat.  Just 24 hours at a time.  You can do just about anything for a day.

Reach out if I can help

Start posting roll and take advantage of the brother/sisterhood. It is so much easier to quit with a bunch of fellow quitters at your side.

Quitting by myself never worked.  I tried that road many times and I always failed.  I'm at day 2,062 quitting here at KTC with a team of supporters.  It works.
Just to be clear, nobody falls off the wagon. Its a conscious decision.
You chose to put that cat shit back in your mouth.
Have you truly decided now not to use any more nicotine today?
Why should we believe you this time?
Are you ready to BE quit instead of trying to quit?
Quitting is as easy as deciding not to use today, making a promise saying as much and keeping your word.
Are you man (or woman) enough to make a promise and keep your word for 24 hours?
All we ask here is for you to promise not to ingest nicotine in any form today and then keep your word.
If you are committed to this then the expectation is that you will make the same decision tomorrow and then again keep your word.
It is a simple formula, but the beginning is very hard to do.
Anyone can do just about anything for 24 hours, here we commit to doing that daily.
Are you ready for that this time?
Or will this just be another attempt?
Attempts suck more than the suck.
Every time you try and fail, you have to start over. Almost nothing is as painful as days 1, 2, and 3.
How may times do you want to go through day 1?
I know I do not ever want to do that again.
If you are ready to be done, and never experience day 1 again, then sack up; make your promise; and keep that shit out of your mouth.
We will plan to see you here again tomorrow for day 7.
I see that you  were going through a tough divorce and made the weak ass decision to use nicotine to sooth your fucking soul.
Life happens every day and its not always kind, what will you do when life throws you another curve ball?
being quit means that nothing will allow you to choose nicotine over freedom. Are you ready for that commitment?
Can you stay quit when Lassie dies, when you get divorced, when you lose your job, when you have a heart attack, when your soulmate is diagnosed with breast cancer, when you are diagnosed with terminal cancer,  when your child commits suicide?
Quitters here have gone through all of that and remained quit because they had posted their promise and were committed to keeping their word and being quit.
Being quit means no matter what, never again. Are you ready for that this time?
We will be here to help you, but only you can make that decision. So whats it going to be?
