I'm a dumb shit for getting addicted, but I'm smart enough to know I need accountability in order to stay quit. Without it, I'd fail, plain and simple.

Hey Brian, my name is Jonathan and I am 31.  I have been dipping at least 1 can of Copenhagen a day since I was 12 yrs old.  I am currently living in Brazil and have decided to quit dipping.  I threw my last dip out last night, September 2nd @ 8pm.  I am at 19 1/2 hours and feeling ok.  A little foggy, but overall ok.  I just wanted you to know that you are not the only one going through this and we quit the same day, so we will conquer this together.  Let me know if you need anything and Good Luck!
Good to hear, man. Feeling good this morning, hope you are too. Let's stay strong and kick this habit together.
terminology 101 KTC
You do not have a habit you have an addiction. The word habit disguises or sugar coats what is really going on. You like me are an addict plain and simple a habit is picking your ass then your nose.

Addiction is a primary, chronic disease of brain reward, motivation, memory and related circuitry. Dysfunction in these circuits leads to characteristic biological, psychological, social and spiritual manifestations. This is reflected in an individual pathologically pursuing reward and/or relief by substance use and other behaviors.

Sound familiar dodging out of family events to take a dip. Missing important things for a dip

Naw man, I don't think you were even close to posting call appropriately. You are in the Dec. group.

Screwing up roll call is completely normal early on. Jacked up format plus the "fog" makes roll almost impossible at first. I actually think it's a tool to weed out the weak one's. If you can figure out roll call then you can quit dipping.
Got it this morning. I did jack that all up though!

Great decision, Bafloyd!!! Click on the Welcome Center link above and start reading. Learn how to Post Roll and what it means. The post roll, keep your word and repeat.

One Day At A Time is your new motto. Candy, gum, exercise, water...anything but nicotine is fair game. Embrace this! You're earning your freedom.

Great choice, brother!!!
Thanks. "Embrace" is actually the first word that came to my mind this time. I know I read where someone tried to enjoy the quit because it meant they were closer to their goal. I think that's a pretty good way of looking at it.

If you read through the other intro's you may see some of my same words on them but they always hold true so I will just repeat them...

You are in for one nasty fight but you have the tools here to make it.

Read everything on here, post roll call each morning and don't dip. Wow....that sounds so easy, doesn't it?

Go load yourself up with gum, mints, fake chew, seeds and beef jerky. Also get some member phone numbers right now, they will help you through the rough parts.

Next, exercise to exhaustion every single day and drink so much water that you feel like you may bust. Both of these will help.

Make sure your wife reads about what you are going through. 99% chance that you are going to be a short fussed dick for the next 3-4 weeks. Try not to take it out on her and the kids. Get on here and take it out on us, we will be fine.

Protect your quit right now which means to be selfish and make it the number one priority. Your head will be screwed up for awhile but you will make it.

I quit with you.
Thanks for the advice. I think I posted roll call correctly earlier this afternoon. I went to the April 2013 forum and replied to the post with my user name and info requested. If I did it correctly, I'll do the same thing tomorrow AM.
