Been two full weeks.. Weather is nice so I am out in it.. I get triggers all the time exspecially yard work. It anyone out there thinks that they can just have just one dip tonight and that is it is crazy... I have had that thought several times.. But dont go back.. I can remember what those first 3 days were like.. I dont want that again.. I dont think my family or friends wants that..

Oh well

John
I'll tell you what brother, CopeFiend and I talked about something very similar just yesterday. He accused me (jokingly of course) of planning my own cave... my immediate and most decisive response was...

"No fucking way brother, because I will NEVER go thru that first week EVER again."

Good choice John, hang in there. We are with you!!!

My blood pressure before.. It was borderline.. I love red meat, KY bourbon (since they make it where I live same town) and used to love a dip.. All those in mind you would think my BP would be high.. It was border line. Now it is mind blowing that sometimes I am walking and not in pain or freaking.. It is running about 150 - 160 over 80-90s .. It used to run about 120-140 over 70-80s.

Around day 30 I am going to see my doctor and see about my health.. I am also gonna see my dentist to see about my mouth.. Nothing to note in there, but I am no dentist.. I have heard its a good idea to see the dentist around day 30. Especially since I have been dipping since 15 or so.. 20+ years..

But, I think I may have high blood pressure now.. I am setting up appointment with Drs. Have anyone on here realized that they have high blood pressure or and I over reacting..

Thanks all

John
Was you blood pressure high before you quit? Mine was a little high, but mine has seemed to jump up about 10-12 points since I quit...very strange.

Chris
Mine was to, but I know my mind and body were quite stressed during that first month. I bet it is still a little elevated... I'm not gonna worry just yet. I was pinging off the walls about the sores in my mouth and the general aches and pains of my quit.

Our bodies are still adjusting... but my wife and I are monitoring my BP just in case. You should too.

Your blood pressure will drop. Mine has dropped almost 20 points in one month since I quit. I'm now cutting out salt to get it down some more. I was stage 2 hypertension, now I'm down to stage 1. The doc reccomended cutting out fatty foods too, which I'm doing.

That eyelid twitching will go away. I haven't had it happen to me in weeks.

Just some questions.. First off I am not going back to Nic

But, I think I may have high blood pressure now.. I am setting up appointment with Drs. Have anyone on here realized that they have high blood pressure or and I over reacting.. I have dipped for about 20 years. Partly I think it is the stress releif that I got from dipping. ?? Just wondering.

I find that I am really tired at times.. I sleep better too I guess.. Kind of wierd.. I guess my body is going thru some changes for the good.

Thanks all

John
High blood pressure is caused by the nicotine- it should nornamlize after a few weeks when your circulation improves- your body is healing and you are getting back to normal but it takes time and it hurts- hang in there!
I noticed effects for a long time after I quit. Anxiety was huge for me, but I eventually worked through it. I had given myself a full year to get resettled into working through things like a normal person, without the crutch of nicotine or antidepressants (or whatever else the doctors would to try to get me hooked on). I've been actively working to recover from these things, and I feel like it's mostly worked out now. I'm at 99 days and I feel great... that's 266 days ahead of the schedule I set for myself.

Another odd thing was a twitching right eyelid. It may sound trivial, but it continued nonstop for about three weeks starting at two weeks in, and it was maddening.

Bottom line: you've been poisoning yourself for YEARS; don't be surprised that it takes some serious time to heal.
Your comment about the eyelid twitching compelled me to post... HOLY SHIT!!! I had that too, especially when I was a SUPER dipping fiend. My hands were even shaky at the worst of my addiction.

I had no idea, back then, how I was really killing myself. I just thought I needed more.

If 100 days works for you guys in terms of seeing the last of the worst side-effects, then I am game.

NKT WOW! I have the same weird twitching eye lid problem. It makes driving and sometimes reading on the computer a challenge or more so an annoyance at the least. Glad to hear it goes away.
