Well I am 26 and have been dipping for 8 years. I went from a two can of Cope/skoal a day to moving to pouches thinking it was not as bad for me. I seriously have two pouches in all day except when I eat. I recently found out that my wife and I will be having our first kid in December. I know I need to quit and I think I want to. What is the best way. Should I gradually stop, use other nicotene products to quit, or just stop cold turkey. I am sitting here about to throw my can in the garbage, but I know when my next craving comes I will dig it out and put another in. What is the best way or does it differ for everyone. I want to be around to see my son and daughter grow up. I just dont think mentally I can quit. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
J.P.

sitting where you are right now is the scariest time and place during a quit. can i do it, should i do it, etc. deep down inside you know the answer, or else you wouldn't be here. it's time. you can do this. you should do this. and if you want it, you will do this.
a couple of things:
1. you have to quit for yourself and your own reasons. you have to have solid ground to stand on when the nic demons visit you.
2. KTC is a cold turkey site. there are other ways, and there are other sites. KTC is amazingly successful BECAUSE it is cold turkey and because of the support you'll receive as a quitter.
3. there is no tomorrow here. you can't "quit tomorrow." take your can, flush the contents, find your hidden spare, and flush that shit too. either sack up or find someplace else to coddle you.
4. you only quit for 24 hrs at a time, but you do it every time. you wake up, post roll (your promise to stay nic free for the day), keep your word, and then repeat the next day.
5. stay active on the site... read your way through craves. the first three days suck... no matter what. we've all been there. we made it through and you can too.
go to october 2011 and post roll. once you do and quit for real, you'll be surprised by the support you'll receive.
