Great decision RIPGrizzly -- good screen name too.
What I wouldn't give to have made my decision at the age you are making it at. It would have given me so many more years of enjoying life chew-free...good for you. I didn't realize how much chewing affected my life until I quit. Like you said, trips to the store, spitters everywhere, girlfriend/wife issues, embarassing run-ins with a huge dips mouthfuls of spit...on and on and on.
Something you may not have considered too is that many of us are older than you and have families kids. This makes it even more complicated. You're now screwing with other peoples lives and emotions. Of course you don't want your kid to see you with a fatty in, but you have to do it, so that equals less time with your kids for this fricken addiction...nice Dad. You wife hates it and knows it's going to kill you or tear off half you face...nice Husband. You get the picture. This may seem like something you can't relate to, but brother at 21 I thought there would be no way I would still chewed when I got to my thirties. Well, 15 years, at least 5,500 cans of chew approximately 25,000 dollars later, here I am at 36. That's pathetic.
Quit for yourself, but know you'll have a bunch of us who should have done it earlier cheering you on.
We all can relate to exactly what you're saying and feeling. You can and will do this since you made youre decision. Now stick to it and don't look back. You've already taken the first and scariest step of all. Just keep close to the site and keep reminding yourself everyone here was able to do it, and so are you.
Let me know if you need anything. Otherwise head over to the July quit group and post you name days quit. They will be psyched to have you and a great source of support for you .There is so much good information so many good dudes on this site just start looking around.
I just learned something reading NKT's post. A couple days ago Brad64 was crawling out of his skin, now he's dishing out the motivation. The amount of good stuff here is unreal. You found the right place.
Stay strong --
