I guarantee the author of this article is a smoker that refuses to acknowledge his addiction:

Hard Times Means Relighting Tossed Cigarettes
Quote
While the study aimed to determine how to medicate people with these behaviors when they seek treatment and how to counsel those who want to break such habits, it's also a warning that such small cutbacks in tobacco use aren't necessarily better for those making them.
Duh. Cutting back just puts your body in a prolonged withdrawal.
Quote
So what makes people do this? The study indicates that this behavior is more prevalent among smokers who started at a younger age, have fewer cigarettes per day, smoke menthol cigarettes and wake up at night to smoke. More important, having a high school degree or less and being unemployed, sick or disabled are the ties that bind folks scouring ashtrays for butts.

'bang head'

Apparently, only a "lower class of addicts" will do anything to get their fix.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. I get to go down this path one time, I want to do it right. I recognize that my word, my integrety to you is on the line and is only as good as my actions. Caving is not an option in this plan-Eafman 7/11

I am not cured. I will quit one day at a time. I will continue to do what works. Posting roll everyday. To do otherwise would be foolish on my part. You can do this-Ready 12/11

To overcome your addiction you must comprehend what it means to fail-Razd 3/12

Theres a lot of people that come here, especially vets, that WANT to be reminded that they are addicts.-Tarpon 6/12

Just as a building starts with architectural drawings. Your daily quit begins with a promise.-Scowick 2/13

Here and now, focused on today, minute by minute, whatever it takes, I promise to all my bros and myself not to become a negative stat and stay quit!-krok 1/15

I want everyone to be quit. Even the assholes.-Probe1957 1/18

Ignoring history or erasing history fixes nothing and leads you inevitably down the same path.-69franx 04/30/2021

I'm the girlfriend of a quitter. I'm extremely supportive and so very very proud of him. What can I do to help? And I know it's all terrible, but when is the worst time? When do I need to saddle up, put on my armor and prepare for battle?!
This battle will be all out for about 6 to 8 weeks starting at day 1. First comes the physical withdrawl. This will last about 3 or 4 days. Just don't take anything he says personal. The psychological part will be different for everyone. I was grumpy and snappy for about a month all the time and then it started to fade away. I'm 123 days in and I still have bad days. The thing with addicts is there will always be bad days. As time passes they will be fewer and farther between and they will less and less severe.

to answer your question, you need to armor up and saddle up for the ride right now. As time passes you will be able to put it away for periods of time but always be ready to break it out. The nic bitch can be very sneaky. She will lurk and wait her chance and she will pounce when you and your boy are at your weakest. Be ready!

Congrats! Go to the Welcome Center and read why and how we post roll. It is the pink link up at the top of the page (it says Welcome Center) :)

You will need to head over to July and post roll.

Give a shout if you need anything, you will find all the support you need if you ask for it. We quit one day at a time around here, you can do that right?
