Hi folks. Tony here, from Nov '14. Just wanted to vent about how much it pisses me off when anyone who is in the process of quitting talks about how much they love/miss their brand of choice. I wasted almost a decade killing myself with the nasty shit. Countless dollars that could be used to pay off my education. Instead, all i got was receded gums and a lifetime of worry about every sore or irregularity that shows up in my mouth. I don't understand how a quitter could possibly say they love or miss it. I think my hatred of chewing and of myself for doing it so long is a huge part of my motivation. Sorry for the rant, just think its BS when I see quitters talk positively of the very thing that has ruined portions of all of our lives, and i think im just having some dip rage. FUCK NIC.
That is the right mindset, young jedi!

What you are describing is called romanticizing dip... and if not addressed will always prove deadly to a quit.

This addiction is like any other addiction in most ways. For some the sense of "loss" when they quit can be quite acute. My recommendation to those folks is to remember why they are here, look at cancer pictures, read the stories at the top of words of wisdom, and read all of the unethical things that big tobacco has done to keep generations of people hooked, selling death for profit. In short, those people need to get pissed at what was done to them... and how it could have impacted them and their family.
Nice post, Tony. 30 had a guy in his group who romanticized the Kodiak for a long time. He even wrote a story about how he killed the bear. Posted a line to the story each day with roll call.

He really just put the bear in a coma. Around 300 days in or so, he woke the bear up and let it eat him.

Those butt munchin merchants of death couldn't pay me enough to ingest their poison anymore.
I hearby swear...

I WILL use the term "butt munchin merchants of death" at least once in conversation today...

I think since we changed software awhile back there are a lot of members that have their PM turned off. Is that because they want it off or just don't know that it is off. I know I had to turn mine ON after the changeover.
If they're off, it's because they turned them off. As far as I know, the software switch did not affect any PM settings (with the exception of email notifications when you get a PM which is no longer an option).
Thanks Chewie

Hi Everyone,
Well, here we go. 37 years old, chewing for 4 years. One can every 1-2 days. This s**t has become my crutch for anxiety, and I hate it. I want to quit. My quit date is planned for 8/25/14. Frankly, I am scared, but want to quit this nasty f****ng habit. Thank God I found this group! Words of support needed!
What is so special about the 25th. Why not just quit now?
Reading the info posts they suggested to cut back for a week before quitting cold turkey. So I'm giving myself a week. Or should I stop right the f**ck now?
NOW YOU'RE TALKING!!!!
Bingo, Bango, Bongo. Flush your stash. Post up day 1 in November, make an intro and prepare for all kinds of crazy support. You can do it, we all did.

That's a pretty outstanding question.

If you quit today, you'd be nictoine free and quit 7 days already by your proposed day...

Hello Everyone,

I just joined the program. I had a friend recommend it to me because of the success and accountability it has given him. I'll be 40 next week and have been dipping since I was 15. I actually have not had a dip since last Thursday, August 7th 2014. It has finally came to mind that I realized if I could not kick the can, I felt like I could never accomplish anything. Plus I do not want my son dipping. He has never seen me dip. Yep, I was a ninja dipper around him. Quitting is for me, but for him too. So far, my cravings have really not been that bad. I have never been a can a day dipper anyway. Generally a can every other day. So I appreciate any support and would be glad to help others.
Welcome! I am right there with you, the cravings have not been awful but I am definitely still feeling the fog. I too was about a can every other day as well. I decided it was time to quit when I was able to fit about 1/3 of a can in my mouth on each chew. I have a son that is due to be born in November so that is additional motivation, but agree that the decision to quit is for me to live. Let me know if you need anything!
