Just joined the site. Quit on Friday, July 18, 2014. The last few days have been hell. This seems like a good place to get support since most of the people I would turn to support for don't even know that I dip, or that I was dipping as much as I was. It's discouraging to read posts from people who have quit for 70 days and they are still having cravings. I was hoping the cravings would subside eventually. On the other hand it's encouraging that a place like this exists where people can turn to for support. The worst part is I'm not even sure how or why I started dipping, I just did. There are so many triggers (golf, yard work, lately just being at work) that it's difficult quit but so far I'm just about 96 hours since last dip and still holding strong (relatively speaking).

The bad news. Craves will come even at hundreds of days quit.

The good news: they are way less intense and they last only a few seconds. The farther away from day 1 you get, the better it will be.

Have any of you have tried the "fake" chew? Do you find that it helps or does it intensify your craving for the real thing? Which one is the best? I've tried smokey mountain and I can't say that I'm a big fan.
I used hooch wintergreen... helped quite a lot with the craves.

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kevin, from SoCal but picked up the habit when I was in Michigan for the last few years. Dipping seriously controls most aspects of my day, and I hate that.

Going to try to stop tomorrow. Really hoping that it will last this time (I've tried to quit about 10x, but without support).

Just looking for some words of support that I'll actually feel better in a few days.

Very grateful that this forum exists, especially since I have no support otherwise.

Words of support you will feel better in a few days? Well, I cant give you those unfortunately because you have not quit yet.

"Going to try to stop tomorrow. Really hoping that it will last this time..." That attitude = failure before you even start. Its like you have already admitted defeat and the round has not started. Why hope and try? Why not just do? And most importantly, why stop tomorrow when you can quit today? We have a simple system here:

1) No nicotine, period. Take all you stuff and flush it. Patches, chew, smokes, e-cig, lozenges, etc. Gonzo - if you plan on failing, part of that plan must include a trip to the nearest dealer to get your fix. dump it in the toilet, piss on it, and flush.
2) Post roll. Read everything here. Your group is October 14 if you quit right now.
3) KEEP YOUR WORD!

Now, once you quit, the first 72 hours are going to be physical hell - and then the real hard part will kick in. For most its certainly more than a few days, but trust me when I say it DOES and WILL get better. Everyday, minute by minute, you will get back to being you and in control of your life, not a slave to a weed in a can. One day, you will wake up and really taste freedom. We are here for you - we will give you all the tools, point you down the path, and walk shoulder to shoulder. But you gotta do your part and that includes some heavy lifting.

Shoot me a PM when you actually decide you are going to quit today (not try and stop tomorrow) and I will gladly help you get going down the road to freedom.
The problem is not the problem.  The problem is your attitude about the problem.  Do you understand?

Draw Fire

If its too much trouble to post roll call, you could always fuck off.

Hey guys, I decided to quit chewing two days ago. I chewed on and off for 12 years, but very consistently the last 5. I came across this website because I could not believe the symptoms my body is going through. Gassy, appeitite is all over the place, and my joints are aching as if I was getting the flu. I decided to quit chewing for various reasons, my wife is pregnant with our first child, financially it is getting harder and harder to excuse..(if anyone else is from canada you will know what I'm talking about), but mostly I don't like the feeling of being a slave to that little can, even though it felt like we were best friends sometimes. I'm glad their is a website like this, running into a guy who really chewed and really quit is harder then you think. Smokers can give some advice I'm sure but they really don't understand when their are no real barriers for where you can have your next chew..anyone who's a few years deep can have a chew anywhere and not raise too many eyebrows. Today is going to be my first day at work without any chew in years, but knowing that I'm not the only guy out there that has gone through all these feelings gives me a feeling of hope. Have a good day boys

Cheers
