Hey all...

Day 43 for me, here. Long time lurker, first time poster.

My original plan was to order Hooch snuff (which I did) and cut it with long cut Skoal to "gradually" reduce the nicotine (which I did not). After reading the posts here, I decided that cold turkey was the way to go. So on April 30th, I had my last dip at 11:00 PM that night. I don't need to tell anyone who has tried or has quit, that the first week was a bear. After that, it diminishes considerably, or at least it has for me.

I plan to get to 100 days with the help of Hooch for that pack between my cheek and gum, then work on breaking that habit as well.

51 years old, been dipping since I was 13 or so. Skoal, LC Skoal, Hawken, Cope, you name it I've probably dipped it or chewed it (Stokers, King-B twist, more).

Time to give it up. If you are thinking about quitting, commit to it and make today the day. It's hard - if it wasn't everyone would do it. But, *you* can do it, because you are a bad-ass and can overcome this.

Does anyone use the app DIPQUIT it tracks how many dips you haven't dipped how many tins you haven't used and how much money you have saved it is pretty interesting to see how much money I have wasted on this poison
For non-app folks there's also the KTC Quit Calculator.

Never ceases to impress me just how much time and money I was throwing away just to keep my face stuffed with cat turds.

Browsing the web this afternoon and found this. I've not seen it anywhere here on KTC and thought it appropriate to our endeavor.

Killer read, thanks Larry
Wow, fantastic read. It was like reading my thoughts
I never really liked Curt Shilling, but THAT was a powerful read. I always found him to be a tremendous asshole and undeservedly cocky. Now he sounds like us in our "grief" stage of quitting. This shit really beat him down. And now I love him. I hope my son reads that article one day. Thanks for posting that.
Good stuff!

3 days in and getting brutal BRUTAL hives. No change in job and/or stress level, no change in diet, just nicotine. Was on nicorette Jan-March, March was a JRTC rotation (military) so jumped back on the train, May was another rotation started dipping again. Tapered off again last week and then outright stopped w/o any nicotine gum as my goal was to quit by December '17 (getting married) and I could see I was just getting addicted to the nicorette.

I've never gone through a cold turkey approach, are hives possible and/or a side effect? All over chest, back, upper arms, behind the knees. Or am I dying.... Job is just as stressful as it's always been so no change. Headaches and the like were expected but this is an interesting new twist.

Thanks!

For any of you lurkers, first timers or those not sure about quitting reading general discussion, let me just pass alone the great feeling I get when I see someone who lurks, finally dive into KTC, post roll call and get into a group.

Following and encouraging a new quitter REALLLLLLY helps my quit every day. The feeling I get when I see a newbie WINNING is just as good and sometimes better than my own quit!

Closest I can describe it is that when I see a newbie Ive been following start kicking Nicotine to the curb, get themselves into the 100 day HOF, its almost like I am hitting the HOF myself!

God, I love this place and the quitters therein!

Going on day 2 of quitting and after reading everything it's going to be rough. Already going through extreme depression after loosing the woman I was proposing too. To make things worse I take adderol at work to help focus but it makes me crave dip so I want to get off that. So now I have to deal with the Fog, and im getting hit with more lack of concentration from not taking medicine. Add the loss of my love and this is gut wrentching. I can't focus at work or sleep. Maybe this isn't best time to quit?
guessing he didn't quit? what group is he with, anybody reach out to this guy?
It's kind of a weird phenomenon, but many of the people who post on the General Discussion board never make it to a quit group. If you scroll through the pages you'll see tons of people who come in and ask a question or make a post and then never even check back in.

I and several others make an effort to reach out to these folks, but it often ends up being a waste of time. The fact is, you can't quit for someone else. If someone can't invest enough in their quit to figure out how this works, they just aren't ready.

It is important to keep trying. Even though many of these goobers never sign in to see your response, you never know who you might actually help. Feel free to reach out to that guy. You can send him an email through the system. Remind him that he wanted to quit and KTC is here if he's ready to do it for real.
Hey guys, FF actually did join a group and just recently hit 100 days.
Crap. Scratch that. Misread it.

I am looking for a support group so if you would like to be part of this pm me and we can figure out how to help eachother

thanks a lot
The way this works is you mosey on over to September 2017. That's your quit group. Find the most recent roll post, read the instructions, and post your first day.

From there get to know the folks in your group and those helping out your group. After that it's all about making a promise every day, brotherhood and accountability.
