Tomorrow will be my day number 97. I will get to celebrate by have all of my teeth removed first thing in the morning. For me that will be 30 teeth (2 already have fallen out). No cavities, but nothing left for the teeth to anchor to. I can thank Skoal straight fo that.
I am not looking for sympathy (well, maybe a little), but throwing this out as a warning to anyone who maybe wondering if they need to quit, especially young users.
Continue to use and you will pay a price. The list of potential consequences has been well documented on this forum and tooth loss is one of the less dangerous ones.
Thank you for sharing your story; inspirational. Congrats on one year Pa!

I am in 65 days quit, but today was one of my worst. I did not sleep well last night, my digestive track is angry, and close to the worst fog of any day during this quit. For now I am assuming it is my addiction trying to show me who is boss again. I have been cruising along so far and was not expecting this.
The good news is that I have zero temptation to use snuff.
The roller coaster has many more ups and downs in store for you Grandpa, but the intensity starts to mellow out. I had one of my worst funks a couple weeks ago as I was approaching day 400. We aren't ever cured. Just keep pushing through ODAAT and the general trend will continue upward.
Hey gramps deal with it. It's worth every thing you go through. 597 day's and had a craving today. You know what I did, I laughed it off and said not today bitch I'm on roll! Seriously it last maybe 15 seconds now and definitely a lot more days where I don't even think about it. I guess what I'm trying to say is there's no timetable for addicts but one damn things for sure, that names on the roll, you're never alone! Quit on!
Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

I have reached day 50, and can honestly say that I have had no real temptations to use tobacco again. The tales of success and failure here have been truly motivational.
Physically, so far it seems my toes are warmer. I assume that means my circulation is improving. I am disappointed that my blood pressure has not show any improvement. Again, I question how much physical recovery is possible at my age.
The message to the you men and women coming here is: quit now and stay quit. Do not be like me, mid 60's, health issues, teeth falling out before you finally quit for good. Quit now while you have a lot of life ahead of you.
Hey gramps give it time, your blood pressure that is. It will go down. Took me a good 6 months or Better. You're doing great and damn proud of you! Quit on!
Agree... Time heals.

I am seasoned alright. Mid 60's and counting.
I have not tried jerky chew. Is it real salty?
It's not that bad sodium-wise. Kinda sweet. Main reason I tried it is because I wanted to get as far away from anything that looked like chew. Plus, I could gut it ...

Your mileage may vary.

Keep piling those quit days bro, every day it gets better.

WildIrish,
Thank you for your good wishes.
You were much smarter about dental care than I. Cleanings always made me climb the walls. I also did not want to hear the scolding about using snuff. I found it easier to just chicken out.
I have as a result ruined my gums and bone. Implants are next unless I want to eat soup the rest of my life.
Grandpa, 38 year dipper here. No cavities at 52. Brushed and flossed daily. Dentists every six months. Can a day man. Dentist didn't know I dipped for years. I do have receding gums that my dentist said are fine but if I would have continued I would have had some major work done on them. I had a heart attack at age 49 , doctor says pretty damn sure it was nic related. I continued dipping 1.5 years after with a stent in before I was finally fortunate enough to find Ktc! Thank God! 577 days later its still and always will be ODAAT! I quit with you!
Grandpa... Grab a hold of pab...
He Sir... is better than a 4 wheel dive!
Work on your quit hard.
You dont need it.... Or a substitute.
Be Still..
Breath.
Stay focused on the Truth.
Truth sets us free.
The old body is dead.
No place to go back too.
Experience the New ODAAT.
And if you get Stuck in the Mud...
Text Pab.
I quit with you today.

The good news is it is never too late to be a quitter here at KTC. A piece of advice for you is to make sure you stay here at KTC. It might seem trivial but this is the place that keeps you (me) quit. For me, just two days ago the Nic bitch was calling me hard. I think I chewed 7 pieces of gum that day. Yesterday and today, I've been good, never even thought about a dip to be honest. But two days ago was crazy and this is after 980 days of being quit. She is a sneaking little bitch and that is why I stay here at KTC. Welcome to the asylum and glad you got clean bill of health!
