Early on in your quit, you posted a statement asking "who's quit are you impacting today?"  Well, buddy, for the last 95 days you've impacted mine.  Thanks for the 900 days you've put in as a dedicated quitter so that you could drag my ass along when I joined up.  You are as solid as they come all the way around.  So I'll Tebow with you on this great day and send a little prayer of thanks upstairs for giving us a true Texas badass quitter.

But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

I decided early in my quit that posting roll was going to be a first thing priority. As soon as my feet hit the floor, I walked my happy ass to my office and posted roll call. Nicotine was off the table for the day and I just needed to be a man of my word and keep my promise. In my mind’s eye I was also putting another nail in the door that separated me from the nic bitch and I knew I could never close it 100% if I missed a day.
I also started noticing vets posting with our group and as a way of increasing my accountability, I added a post in their rooms as well. I posted support for them as a tribute to each of those groups/quitters who invested their time and energy in my quit and will continue to support them along with the newbs as long as I have quit in my lungs. Our quits must be 100% our decision to start with but KTC is a brotherhood and a community. We all failed miserably when we attempted to stop on our own. So embrace the brotherhood and allow yourself to be held accountable.
We’re here for a purpose so what is yours? Find a role to play here and raise the bar of accountability

Quote from: Coach Steve
(Coach Steve awakens on the second floor of the Glass House of April 2012 and stretches his arms. Leaning onto one elbow, he peers out of a break in the curtains. Beyond the glints of morning sun CS can hear Ziesmer in the backyard of his August 2012 House of  'Finger', tending to his herd of smart ass miniature horses. Out of the corner of his eye CS sees someone sitting in the small wooden chair in the corner of his room. As he turns, CS sees Cbird seated in the chair wearing a blue robe, running shoes and holding a cup of coffee)

Cbird: Good morning sunshine!
CS: Good morning Watcher...thanks for stopping in today
Cbird: Sorry I missed the last few days of watching you wake up, but I had to....um...catch up on a few things
CS: Not a problem really...having someone watch you wake up is totally overrated
Cbird: Glad you understand, well {standing up}...I'd better get going...gotta do 13.87 miles today
CS: Cool, see ya later
( Cbird turns toward the door and pauses reaching for the handle)
Cbird: {turning back} So Coach.....
CS: {sitting up} Yeah Bird?
Cbird: {sigh} Do you notice anything different about me?
CS: Not really....what are you getting at?
Cbird: {shrugging his shoulders} I dunno, I just feel a little 'blue' lately...
CS: {getting out of bed} You probably need more electrolytes
(CS puts on his glass slippers and as he looks back Cbird has vanished in a puff of smoke....)
CS: Hate it when he does that....
(Just then, CS gets a text from Gmann)
Gmann texting: You should check out Cbird’s new look....
CS texting: Just saw him...looks normal to me
Gmann texting: OMG!!!! Does he do that every morning?
CS texting: Totes
Gmann texting: K
CS texting: No K
Gmann texting: que?
CS texting: What?
(CS closes his flip phone, gets dressed and heads down stairs to the Hallway Like Fuck. As he turns the corner into the Glass Kitchen, CS sees pavetheway, Bigwhitebeast, ERDVM and Rated sitting at the breakfast table eating Cheerios and bantering amongst theyselves)
Rated: Hey Coach, maybe you can help us figure this out...
CS: Figure what out?
Rated: It's Cbird...we think something's up with him lately....
CS: Like what?
BWB: Well Coach...do you remember back in the early quit when we couldn't figure out if you were a man or a woman?
CS: {furrowing his brow} Vaguely...yes
BWB: Well its kinda like that, except different
CS: So you guys think Cbird is a woman?
ERDVM (Vadge): No, no Coach...haha, that's not it at all. What Beastie is trying to say is that Cbird’s color seems a bit different these days...
CS: I saw him this morning....looks the same to me
Pave: {turning in his chair} Does he wake you up every morning?
CS: Well...almost every morning...he's missed the past few days
Rated: {standing up and pointing his finger in the air} Ah ha! I knew something was up with Cbird!
(Just then, Texasjack comes running into the Glass Kitchen wearing rain boots and an American flag speedo)
TJ: Guys come quick, there's breaking news on the Dramatron!
(The gang rushes into the viewing room where they see Evil Won anchoring the KTC News Desk)
Evil Won: Fellow quitters, we've just been informed that Loot has ended his months long sabbatical and has returned to bring accountability to the mud huts of May 2014
Pave: Do you guys know haw hard it is to sexcavate in the mud?
TJ: I always imagined it would be like midget mud wrestling
Vadge: Remind me to tell you guys a story later....
Evil Won: Now we’re going to go live to our correspondent on the scene…what can you tell us Wastepanel?
Wastepanel: Thanks EW…well we know that Loot arrived at the mud huts of May 2014 sometime this morning accompanied by his security team
Evil Won: What else can you tell us WP?
WP: As I said Loot arrived this morning and, according to eye witnesses, entered the mud huts of May 2014 and began poking quitters with his cane. Some of the May 2014 quitters simply ignored Loot, posted roll and left for the day, while others just laid there with blank stares
Evil Won: Wow. You would think a retired ADMIN with 3000+ days of quit wouldn’t just get ignored when he reaches out to a new group
WP: You’re absolutely right EW, but the fact is a lot of these newbs just don’t put in the effort of reading and understanding all that KTC has to offer. It seems like the prevailing mentality these days is post once a day through 100 and you’re cured
(Just then, CS jumps out of his chair and rushes to the Dramatron)
CS: {pointing} Rewind that back! I think I saw something!
Rated: What was it Coach?
CS: Just rewind the damn thing!
Rated: Ok, ok, geez….
BWB: Coach do you need a Snickers bar? You get a little klark when you’re hungry
(Rated rewinds the DVR)
CS: Stop! {pointing} You guys see what I see?
Vadge: Is that Cbird….?
Pave: Damn sure is…..why is he wearing a blue jump suit?
Rated: OMG! Do you guys even listen when I talk? I told you something was up with Cbird!
BWB: Calm down Rated
Rated: Ok…sorry for yelling, but what is Cbird doing in a blue jump suit!?
CS: There’s only one way to find out….Beast, fire up that truck, we’re taking a ride down to the mud huts of May 2014
(The Glass House quitters pile into the bed of the truck, and Beastie peels out onto 2012 HOF Groups Street. After hauling ass down KTC Boulevard, Beastie pulls onto the 2014 Pre-HOF Groups Dirt Road and the quitters can see a large crowd gathered outside of the mud huts. Beastie parks the truck and CS hops out of the bed and sees T Cell standing behind the crowd)
CS: Have you seen Cbird?
T Cell: Sure haven’t, but there’s a lot of commotion and he could be in the middle of it
CS: What’s this all about?
T Cell: One of the May 2014 quitters asked everyone to step
Vadge: Step? Like take steps?
Rated: Like do the two step? {square dancing} I call this the Hawkeye Two Step!
T Cell: No not like that…
Vadge: Is he tall….? Maybe he was offering someone a stepping stool so they can conversate at eye level?
T Cell: No, no….he had an aggressive tone, and then he did this little dance
Rated: Like this?
T Cell: More like this
CS: Oh…I see. So did anyone ‘step’?
BWB: These guys need to ‘step’ to the Nic Bitch
Vadge: Agreed. I’ll step all over the nic whore’s face
(Just then, the lights dim and it starts raining. The crowd forms a dance off circle around the May 2014 quitter. The music starts up and Bean walks out of the crowd, shirtless, with lights on his hands, and begins stepping)
CS: What in the fuck is going on here?
Vadge: I dunno, but Bean has some sick moves
(Bean finishes his dance and jlewis begins his stepping routine to a chorus of boos from the other quitters in the crowd. Just then, the music scratches to a halt and another May 2014 quitter steps into the dance circle)
Lipizzaner: Fuck all of you whiny old cunts!
Diesel: Fuck you back
Lipizzaner: Your bitch fest is getting old
Diesel: But I’m just warming up…
(Just then, the crowd quiets as three loud rasps fill the air)
Rated: What the hell was that?
CS: Shhh! It’s him…..
Rated: Him who?
CS: Loot
(The crowd stirs and then quiets again as Loot is seen approaching the dance off circle wearing a white robe. J2B and Gmann follow behind wearing red robes. Loot lifts his right hand to address the crowd….)
Loot: Does any quitter hailing from the tribe of May 2014 ever speak?
Lipizzaner: Who are you old ass dude?
Loot: I’m here to quit. I’ m here to never forget day one. I’m here to hold you accountable. That’s who the fuck Loot is.
(Just then, J2B raises his golden staff)
J2B: To the quit!
Crowd: {fists raised} QUIT!
(Gmann approaches the crowd and claps his hands)
Gmann: Ok everyone that’s a wrap for this evening…remember you are all invited to the House of April 2011 for beverages!
(As the crowd begins dispersing the familiar sound of sirens and the rumbling of the MOD Squad Crown Vic can be heard skidding onto 2014 Pre-HOF Groups Dirt Road and screeching to a halt just in front of the Glass House Quitters. The front door flies open and Cbird steps out of the MOD Squad Crown Vic.)
Cbird: Howdy boys….how bout a ride along?
CS: Fuck yeah
(Texasjack attempts to slide across the hood and falls off. The rest of the quitters pile into the Crown Vic. Before getting in, CS turns to jlewis1)
CS: Hey man, you wanna come along?
Jlewis1: I’m busy
CS: {smiling} Well that’s too bad
(CS hops into the MOD Squad Crown Vic and Cbird peels out leaving a cloud of dust over the crowd)
J2B: {dusting himself off} I can’t believe we made him a MOD
Gmann: Oh come on it isn’t that bad….kinda funny actually

(As the Glass House Quitters and 1 newly minted MOD screech down the 2014 Pre-HOF Groups Dirt Road, BWB can be seen leaning out of the rear passenger side window throwing a bowling ball at the January 2014 Group mailbox)

Rehash

things I wished I had learned in the first week here

The "tools plus the personal contacts made on KTC are like bullets." They must be loaded with determination, the gun must be aimed accurately and then the trigger must be pulled in order to hit your target.

Building friendships among your quit brothers adds another layer to your quit but it is action oriented and for many it will take you out of your comfort level. It takes time to seek someone out, to get to know them, to share with them and soon trust them. How likely are you to cheat on your friend?

Get outside of yourself and stop focusing only on you. But I’m hurting you say. I reply, go find someone who is hurting more. Find a way to encourage or challenge your brother to take one more step. When you stop focusing on your own pain and help another, two quits are strengthened in the process.

Use the ChatLive room- a whole different environment all together

Exercise coupled with an increase of water consumption, to date, has been one of the best activities to combat the nic bitch. Exercise and water will help flush out the poison we've ingested for years and it is good for every aspect of your quit. The release of the anxiousness, pent up anger or rage with the benefit of dedicated thought time. Start becoming a better man/woman. If the stress and rage becomes too much, log on and vent to your group. Never, and I mean never vent on your family.

We’re learning to recondition our thought and response methods. It’s funny how we like to romance our history with nicotine. We had all the same emotional ups and downs we have now. What did nicotine really do ~ nothing. There is no clarity enhancing characteristic in the chemical compound of nicotine, we just associated it and choose to remember it that way.

No fingerprint is identical; neither is the quit for any member here; however, you are joining an organization created by quitters and this site has seen it all. Remember this: “It ain’t personal, it’s about the quit” and in most cases the guys offering you advice are trying to help you so just listen. Your "quit is in infancy stage" so park your attitude and ego. You are not a special butterfly.

This site is based on honor, brotherhood, accountability and success. What are you doing with your quit when no one is watching?

I find this gif hilarious as I keep getting stuck wondering what the banana taking it is thinking.  He's not fighting too much, but the look of shock suggests surprise sex. He's wondering whether he likes it or not. He may be contemplating the ride home, or may have just been busted by his significant other (BTW...why am I assuming gay banana sex here?  Could be a female...).

So many questions unanswered (like that dog on a skateboard years ago)...
The receiving banana is probably wondering how the ride home will be and what to do if their eyes meet again...they could end up in another hotel or looking for the exit.  Or maybe he was just walking through the woods and heard banjo music but it was too late to respond because the banjo player was a marathoner like you and Cbird... no point in running from a marathoner is prolly what he is thinking.

Heard there’s a new soap box somewhere in April 12 but I’ll be damned if I can find it

A new gentle and calming wind seams to tickle the ears now but that’s NOT what got me here today (714).  The revolving door of ‘failed quits’ looks like a fan due the number of caves.  Their story is the same: ‘I stopped posting roll regularly and I drifted”.  Some think they have nothing to pay forward and feel they have benefited from the site but don’t need it any longer. Some will use the excuse ‘this site makes me think `of Copenhagen too much (my drug of choice for nearly 35 yrs) .  My only response to that is no shit Sherlock – we are addicts in an inactive stage and we should be intentional and determined about our quit.

The lack of chatter in the rooms is deafening.  No room chatter equates to no synergy of the group and no bonding.  I guess all the chatter is behind the scenes via text.

Be active, be diligent and pay it forward.  Like any organization, we will only grow if you are actively quit, use the tools learned from this site and spread the word.
No I know what the "C" stands for in CBird65!

Last night, my wife and I made a decision that we have been dreading for the last four months and let our German Shepard go to sleep.  This is the second time I’ve had to do this but in no way was it easier.   We adopted her from a rescue group almost ten years ago and is one of our family since we don't have kids.  Our vet and vet tech are closer personal friends of ours.  We have vacationed with their families and consider them pseudo family so it wasn’t surprising that our vet tech and her husband (who I also worked with for 10 years) met us last night.  He is still a Copenhagen user and the thought of asking him for a can last night was fleeting at best.  My anger and sorrow over the loss of our Shepard to bone cancer was so much greater and it only emboldened my resolve.

Use of nicotine only enhances one thing, the addiction to nicotine.

Stay strong, stay quit and FUCK YOU CANCER

Sorry to hear about your loss CBird, prayers sent up for you & your wife for sure.
That sucks big time my friend.  I have had to do it as well and it is never easy.

You are a rock solid quitter, damn proud to quit with you daily.

Hang in there!

STAY QUIT
Greg

just because it needs to be seen again

Bird’s Top Ten
1 Quit for you.  This decision to abstain from ANY and ALL NICOTINE is not based on fear or for anyone else.
2.  Post roll every damn day.  Affirm daily to yourself and to the brotherhood your decision to protect your quit and theirs.
3.  Keep you word.  Sounds simple until everything hits the fan at once. If you can’t look yourself in the mirror honestly then you are a weak link.
4. Hold your brothers accountable to posting and protecting their quit  This will require open lines of communication.
5.  Have a sense of humor.  Life is serious enough and quitting sucks.  We did this to ourselves so own your quit.
6. Special butterflies need not apply regardless of your life story or circumstances.  Your finger print is the only unique thing about you.  Follow the time tested precepts.  You are not God’s gift to “quit” and KTC isn’t broken nor DOES IT NEED FIXING OR REINVENTING!
7.  Take what you can and leave the rest.  It’s called life – roll with the good and bad.
8.  Protect your quit daily and if you have extra energy help a brother out.  (old or new, we all need encouragement sometimes)  the pay it backward and forward principle.  Note help may include a boot in the ass every now and then or a 2x4 upside a thick foggy skull
9.  No cure, pill or silver bullet to erase our history of nicotine abuse.
10.  Wake up and repeat
I dig it.  Thanks for posting again, I never saw it the first time.  Maybe before my time...

Thanks
Oooooo... That's good! Give me sum mo...Give me sum mo....
excellent advice for us all, thanks for reposting cbird!
