LOOT has the numbers right.

March 16th first day of no tobacco  the beginning of a Month of Misery.

April 14th first day of NO NICOTINE whatsoever on the Chantix drug. This was a cake walk compared to my first few weeks on NRT.

April 25th no more Chantix. A few sketchy 3 year old Welbutrins is all.

I have decided to be proud of what I went through and rejoice over my 51 days of Victory over Skoal! Feels fucked up to say the hardest part of the journey, the part requiring ALL my strength/willpower and the part I feared and put off for 20 plus fucking years don't count.

I personally do not consider April 14th my first day of quitting, but I understand  respect your rules re. NRT. I agree it's ridiculous to post two numbers in Roll Call.
Would it be okay if I stick around as a member but just don't post in Roll anymore?
Be accountable to and supportive of your brothers by continuing to post roll with your non-nic number. You're weeks ahead otherwise. You can add your non-dip day in () for your own morale.

i.e. {example numbers only}

ElkHills - Day 34 (55) I quit with John J. Rambo and Moe from the 3 Stooges.

just my $0.02
I was right in the way I was reading it....but way off in my calculations. Yeah so you are on day 23. That is awesome.

Posting roll is the most important thing we got going here. Post up your 23 and continue moving fwd.
Quit: 3/23/10

LOOT hates to piss on your little parade here...

On this board, we post one number.  That number corresponds to nicotine free days.

You can count your NRT days in this Introduction thread only if you want...but in Roll Call, the day you quit using nicotine in any form, is Day 1.

Carry on.
LOOT, he said he's been off the chantix for a week. Could be wrong but from what I gather he has not used any form of nic for 47 days.
I'm reading that April 14th was the first nic free day.

I could be wrong though.

47 Days.
Maybe it's just the anti-depressants talkin but damn I feel good!

Off the Chantix for a week now, stopped Cold Turkey w/ no ill effects. Thought I would feel better off the stuff clean  sober, but alas, no. Still lethargic, tired all the time, just down in general.
Found an old Welbutrin prescription in the med cab (from 2009, damn!). Took 2 two days ago, one yesterday. I guess the stuff still works cause man I feel 101% better.
Wish my Doc would get back from Europe soon cause I've only got 6 more hella old pills in that bottle.

Quit up, cowboys.

40 days!

I have been quit for 40 days and 40 nights!

In that amount of time:
It is said that Adam entered the Garden 40 days after his creation.
God flooded the entire Earth, over 40 days and 40 nights.
Noah waited another 40 days after it rained before he opened a window in the Ark.
Embalming an Egyptian mummy required 40 days.
Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days.
Moses' face shone after the 40 days on the mountain.
It took the Hebrew spies 40 days to search out the promised land and bring back fruit.
Goliath came for 40 days before being killed by David.
Elijah strengthened by one angelic meal went 40 days to Mount Horeb where the Lord passed by and he heard the voice of God.
Jonah warned the City of Nineveh they had 40 days until God would overthrow the city. The people repented in those 40 days and God spared the city.
Jesus fasted 40 days in the wilderness, to the brink of death.
Moses and Elijah also had 40 day fasts.
A Jewish woman was (is?) considered "unclean" for 40 days after childbirth (double, or 2 x 40 if it's a girl!).
Jesus hung around on Earth for 40 days after His resurrection.
The custom of fasting for 40 days (Lent) continues to be practiced by a segment of modern Christians.
Some Catholics are asked to pray for the deceased soul for 40 days after death.
The time track of a cycle of 40 days can be used to very effectively (almost perfectly) measure and meter out the rate of each passing solar year. The Genesis record--in dating the epoch of the flood--is just short of being explicit in showing that a calendar predicated upon a track of 40 days did originate with the epoch of creation.

And elkhills didn't use tobacco for 40 days.

Elkhills....wow! This is great.

I am still using the Hooch but using less than when I was first quit. The thing is there is no real dependency, so if I go on an outing with the family, there is no need to take along any "companions". When I was using the poison, I was always trying to sneak away from my family to feed my addiction. Makes life far more enjoyable to be able to focus on the fun rather on feeding some stupid addiction. I am not to worried about using the hooch, as I know my interest in it will continue to fade until I simply don't buy it anymore.
That's good to hear. Man, the lame excuses I would come up with to sneak away from my girlfriend to feed the addiction... :ph43r: Peace

I'm using the Smokey Mountain Wintergreen. I add cayenne pepper to it and it's really not as bad as I thought it would be. I dipped for 30 years and I am concerned that I will have a tougher time quitting the physical act of dipping than quitting nic. Today I posted Roll Call and today I am Quit. Peace
same here... after 21 days the nicotine addiction hasn't been that hard to kick, but the physical act of dipping is proving harder to swat away. not sure how i will go about kicking the fake Hooch stuff. by the way that shit gives me worse heartburn than Skoal did.
I haven't had a problem with heartburn using Smokey Mountain. I can't compare it to Hooch though cuz I haven't tried that and I'm happy enough with SM that I'm not really even interested in trying anything else. I'm even starting to forget what Kodiak tasted like because I'm going through a can of SM a day. I still use the fake stuff as soon as I get home, while I play/practice guitar, after I run... Yeah, I am actually becoming
more concerned about how I am going to stop the physical act of dipping but at least I can deal with that problem while being nicotine free... Peace
Yeah, no heartburn for me either... are you guys "gutting" it? I spit untill it's almost dead.
I have to think that after a while, a few months, the fake stuff is going to be less  less important until it's just a "once in a while when I go fishing" type activity.
If not, well, the wife broke all 3 of our kids off of their Binky's... I guess she'll just have to break me too. I reserve the option to throw a fit.

Maybe I'll do a little mini review to date;

1. I think Hooch has a good flavor and a real good "burn", but the stuff is a little too dry and it turns my teeth green! Cleaning out a dip is a chore that nearly requires a toothbrush.
2. Smokey Mtn is real close in texture to my old nemisis Skoal, which is probably why I like it so much, it feels comfortable. The mint flavor not so good but wintergreen is the shiznit. Grape tastes like Kool Aid :)
3. Oregon Mint (wintergreen aka "Beaver Chew") has little to no flavor, burn or realistic texture. My least favorite so far, that flavorless lump is not the business.
4. Baac-Off is ordered and in the mail... I'll letcha know.
No "gutting it" for me. Yeah, I'm hoping that at some point my body will realize there's no nicotine in the SM and dipping all the time will just start losing its appeal. I am really surprised at how much I am enjoying the Smokey Mtn (wintergreen.) Good stuff. Peace
