Trev, I admire you for coming on these boards, there are few at your age who would even think quitting might be an idea worth trying. At age 18 I was just getting started, I certainly wouldn't have even tried to hear the message you're at least still reading today. Now 20 years your senior, I'm thankful for a good dentist checkup  still I'd roll my best friend for a cigar right now.

What really makes this work is the day to day roll call promise you make that you won't use today. Tomorrow's a bright shiny new day  can take care of itself. You just have to worry about today because you promised an awesome group of guys that you could manage just that, guys who are counting on you  going through the same shit you are.

It does get easier day by day, but it's not easy no matter what you try. Should you try easing off for a week or so, I hope we see you back posting on the board where you can get all the help  support possible. Feel free to PM me for a cell # if you need too.

But beware. It's easy to put off  say I'm working it,  I don't doubt you are/will in your own way, but your 20s it can be hard to think about your own mortality then when your 30s come around they'll fly by. You could wind up middle aged before you know it.

I'm thinking about maybe trying out getting 1 can of snus pouches just to get used to less nicotine for the first few days. Then go from there. I do still need help with roll when I do start officially.
No SNUS, no nicotine. PERIOD.
We are nicotine addicts. We get nicotine out of our system. We keep it out. That is why we came here. We came from the can, but it is no better if it is a cigarette, a patch, SNUS, Nic GUm, e-cig, cigar..... it is all the same.

For you to succeed, you need to make some drastic changes in your thinking, and changes in your behavior. Friends dip- Stay away. Dip when drunk- don't drink. It takes a real dedication to truly stay quit.

Join us. Go into battle again, this time as a true warrior. Be quit. Take the steps to stay quit. Hit us up when you crave. PM me if you need another number.
As long as you don't have that SNUS shit, you can post day 1 today.
I'm just looking for a way to ease into the first few days from quitting. Going cold turkey is tough for me, I have tried it multiple times. I'm hoping that just 1 can of snus over a week or so will help me get used to less nicotine until for quitting completely.
Wake up, we are telling you it won't. It is tough to quit at first but it gets easier. Read what we wrote. Dig deep you can do this.

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

You really want to quit do whatever you need to, but keep nicotine in any form out of you're system. 1 is to many and 1000 is never enough.

Your worth the withdraws. You're worth everything you have to go through to beat this addiction. Never again for any reason and you get life back. You go trying any other form of the poison your still a slave.
It gets easier one day at a time.

I thought that might be a good idea too, just get used to less  even it out. Like cutting back, or maybe I'd try the gum. The first couple days are still gonna suck I think no matter what, hopefully that's the feeling that motivates me to stay quit  not have to go through it again.

But I think what happens is you end up getting less nic than you want anyway so it prolongs the number of days you're feeling withdrawls. I think it's like the bandaid. Do you try to peel it off little by little or do you just rip it off hair  all  be done with it? I might've even read that somewhere on here as a analogy.

Sent you a PM with the instructions I got (for mac/iphone) but no matter what you use, aside from the machine specific keys to cut/copy/paste I think the general idea is the same.

I did toss it out, I got one from one of my buddies after class because everybody was sitting around with one in and I was just sitting there with them.

Its always the first two day's hump that really is the hardest for me. I want to quit just as bad as anybody else but day one and two are the worst. I feel like after the first week or so I will be able to control myself much better than I can now.

Also I need help on how to post roll, if somebody could help me with that that would be great
Days 1 and 2 are about the worst. Pick a weekend even if you have to stay at home  do nothing with your friends. I picked a Monday/Tuesday that I had first aid training. If the fog hit, and when it did, I'd already taken the class 10 times so could pass the exam anyways for the ticket (I'm not an EMT  you don't want me to save your life anyways). But you can't even let your guard up after that as it stays hard. You can certainly try to help your chances of success through the first days, but even still no matter what, they're gonna suck. I can't think of any way around that. I even thought of the nic gum before I came on here, but like they say, all it's gonna do is prolong the withdrawls instead of getting them over.

You mean caved? Bro you gotta be shittin me. Quittin isn't easy. You gotta WANT it dude.
You didn't toss it out did you? you had it sitting around just in case you were going to cave.... I am right aren't I?
You need to be all in, and cut all ties with the can, or it won't work. You need to post your promise, not to use nic, in the morning, and live up to that promise. You need to call or text one of your brothers on here if you are thinking about caving. If you don't have anyone's numbers, PM me and I will give you mine. Or get on this site and type out your misery, or get on the live chat and plenty of folks will be there to talk you off the edge.
The point is.... There are tools here. You didn't use them.

Others will tell you about the 3 questions, but given that you didn't really even get going, I am not sure it matters.

The real question is "DO YOU WANT THIS?" If the answer is yes, then get your ass active on this site, use your KTC library card and read eveything that is on here.

If you can get to a rink for 5:30 am hockey practice, you can damn sure stay quit one day.... If you want to.

Get quit with us, or come back when you are ready

Hi trev,

Very disappointed to see your post. Unfortunately, and I'm not trying to be an ass here so please understand that I'm speaking from some experience, I'm not surprised. Because when I was 18 I thought I was pretty invincible. And bulletproof. And I really didn't understand integrity. Real men have integrity, and I have to be honest, it takes a real man (or woman) to beat this addiction.

I started around age 16. All the cool guys did it. Damn it felt good the first few times. That rush to the head - it was like a roller coaster. The first few times. Then... Nothing. Well, not exactly true. High blood pressure. Check. Low oxygen. Check. The fog. Check. Minus forty thousand dollars wasted. Check. Missed time with family and friends so I could get my fix. Check. I could go on all night.

Trev, this is no joke. Did you read your first post? You are 18 and worried about cancer! You should be busy doing unmentionable things that we all did at 18. Not worrying about cancer! But the choice, and this is a choice, is yours.

You can post roll and man up. Man up means that you have integrity. That you keep your word. Or you can spend the next 25 years, like I did, being scared every time my gums looked funny. And you can look forward to throwing a shitload of money away. Hopefully that is all that your continued dance with the cancer causing devil will cause you.

The time to man up is now. This can be done. But you have to chose to do it.
