I am in the same boat aa you it seems. Cope dipper for years and have quit 28 days and having a bitch of a time.

Forgive me for not introducing myself earlier- not much into blogging for chat and to be honest have been a little overwhelmed the last 5 days-
Chip- aka CBird65 - from DFW- dipped cope for 35 years- until 12/31/2011

What was my motivation for my decision- how about, I had just had enough- my wife of 11 years silently prayed that I would quit as did my mom and sisters-

this decision isn't for them- it's 100% about me and getting the bitch off my back- tired of shelling out money for something that will kill me, I wasn't hiding it for anyone so there wasn't a guilt issue- just plain medical and financial- roughly figure I gave those bastards $20000.00 over the last 35 years and enough is enough!

currently on day 5 posting roll and am sub-ing cope with Smokey Mountain- Hootch is in the mail and my goal is to limit those fake dips to radom times throught the day- I've heard 72 hrs rids the body of nic but it's the habit of "dipping " that will be one of my hurdles-

To all those April HoFs- keep the fight- it's only a 2 1/2" can right!?!

Thanksgiving Day 2012 Quit Day 328


Today marks another day added to list of "first times in 35 yrs. to enjoy". Thanksgiving is and has always been a reflective holiday for me and today I give thanks for this site and ALL of the nutcases who have impacted my quit. There are so many who come to mind and more than a handful have become true friends.

I look back briefly to see the Day 1 marker I planted in my quit. No, I'm not boasting, I don't ever want to forget the absolute SUCK. I am looking forward to new chapters to write and will remain confident that I am responsible for my actions and reactions. I will no longer be a slave to a drug in a can. The light has been turned on and I now see I can live without the brain masking drug and habit addiction I selfishly clung to 35 freakin' years.


We are quickly approaching some of the most stressful times and want to encourage you guys to lean on each other when you're not "feeling the quit". Remember all of the craves that have been beaten down and use the tools you've learned here. Be ready to help, encourage or challenge another who might be struggling.

indulge me if I get nostalgic ... six years ago on NYE, I walked out of a party giving my can to the host and said "I am done". Three agonizing days later I googled 'fake dip' and landed on KTC.  I've been attending that same NYE party for the last six years and every year I would have a new coin with me.  I made it a point during the night to show it to the host and ask him if he was ready to embrace freedom.  Every year, he would tell he'd quit when he was ready......

In October he joined the site but never got involved and I was pessimistically optimistic of his success.....Last night he told me he was on day 84...

And thanks to all of you who continue to pay it forward

an update on my buddy.  Monday morning he texted me day 300!!!  I wasn't aware but later that night, our tight group of friends met up for dinner and toasted.

Feeling the love and so glad to be have to added to the quit....  Guess what it boils down to is taking ownership. Not relying on the emotion of the moment/day to dictate or give me an excuse to finger bang the can.   You cannot separate Brotherhood, Accountability and Success....all three must be part or there is none.  Pretty sure its an old Chinese proverb Chewie wrote.

Coming up on 4 yrs of quit and taking stock of that time.


Last year I learned one of our brothers has been quietly battling ALS. I am not sure of the exact date he was diagnosed but know the discovery would have destroyed most quits. His steadfastness and commitment to his quit is one of the truest acts of heroism I have ever seen. I am thankful and honored to call him a brother. He is a husband, father, United States Marine and a member of The Glass House of April ‘12. All I can say is thank you Tst for continuing to raise the bar every day.

The closeness and energy that generates here is life changing. We failed so many solo attempts, but once the blinders of nicotine are removed and we face the addiction we willingly submitted to, then and only then will the battle of one day at a time become achievable. Break out of your shell and embrace everything this site has to offer.
Stay active on the site and continue to foster these 'quit relationships'.

and for this today I AM THANKFUL.

What will you do w your quit today?

I will and have posted my word.
I have interwoven that promise into many rooms.
I will assist if possible.

I will not allow the selfish minded stoppers, who are only looking for an excuse to go back into slavery, discourage or impede my quit.

I will exchange text messages today with my quit brothers

Above all, I will uphold my promise to me and to this sanctitude that I will not use nicotine in any form for today.

(P.S. I love the fact that a quitter with 1,000 plus days started this topic)

I posted my promise today and spent the last hour posting support in other brothers groups
I too, like by March Brother Steakbomb, will text my quit brothers
If the thought of Nicotine enters my brain I will dismiss it by thinking of all my brothers and sisters fighting the same thing with me.
I will stay free today.
