Scroff,

Looks like you decided to take off the patch on the 10th.
How were the last 3 days and how does it feel to be nicotine free?

My mouth feels better today. Still hurts some but improving. I can't believe the kind of damage the Copenshit does to your mouth wow! You don't even realize it until after you quit either! Well some do...they get cancer or their teeth rot out or what ever. I am glad that I have stopped and will never go back! Ever!
Scroff,

Take a moment to think about how shitty your yap feels, then how shitty the withdrawls, heart probs, health probs all exacerbated by nicotine. Now think about how long it took to get up the stones to quit. I bet it all feels pretty hard right?

Good, now remember that shit for the rest of your life, because the day you forget what it feels like in the beginning is the day your going to open the door back up to your addiction.

Good +1

I have a question...My tounge is sore and I have a lot of "white" patches all over it. On the left side it looks like some of the white stuff came off and it is sore in that spot. My tounge is also "throbbing" a bit and feels "thick". This has happened all AFTER I quit. Any answers about this?
Scrofford, very many of us experience the same symptoms. Before I go further, I recommend you write to iuchewie directly and ask him about this. He has a wealth of information about exactly this effect.

You've been putting poison in your mouth again and again, many times a day, day after day, for years if you're like the rest of us. You've been moving that shit around in your mouth with your tongue pretty much constantly (Duh, many of us have an oral fixation, great for the ladies). So now you've stopped. Think your mouth won't notice?

It's used to the poison. It's wondering where it is. It will get over it. You're now running your tongue around in your mouth (you still have the oral fixation) on nothing, or on those damn sunflower seeds (who's idea was that?) or on the Hooch or Rocky Mountain Chew (fake dip). Your mouth is freaking out. Like I said, it'll get over it.

Go to the doc if you like. Might put a bunch of things to rest. Chewie had self-diagnosed all kinds of shit that wasn't real. Just be cool. I'll go out on a limb and frankly guarantee, you're fine. Just hang tough. It'll pass in a couple of days, long enough for a pimple to grow then disappear. Same kind of thing.
Scroff, try laying off eating all the paint chips. 'winker'

Actually give it a week and if it doesn't clear up go to the dentist. It seems to me that anything in your mouth that happens in the first two weeks of your quit is generally quit related. I am not a doctor, but your complaint has been one I have seen here before

SM
PS, I am 226 days quit. On dip I always got great dental reports except for some receding of the gums which I had fixed 238 days ago. So generally I had a good mouth even after 15 years of abuse.

However, i wanted you to know that even after 226 days i still have fucking rancid breathe. I don't know what the fuck it is. And it's starting to drive me insane.

I brush, floss, use mouthwash (2 kinds) and still it's nasty. I blame it soley on the years of abuse. So like you have been told, it takes a while and sometimes never to get back to normal. And yes, i still get sores, but I am apt to think they are just viral because even when I was little I always got canker sores and my youngest guy gets them too.

Keep an eye on what's going on and like you have been told give it another week.

Thank you...I am just curious if anyone here has been diagnosed with oral cancer AFTER quitting the chew.

Way to go scrofford!

I've been following your thread, for what its worth, when I first quit my heart fluttered a bit and was told that was quite normal. It may take a while for your body to adjust to not being poisoned.

Congrats on your decision, you go this! Let me know if I can help.
Thanks for the update- you are on your way....good job!!!

Well my stupid doctors appointment got rescheduled so I am just going to quit the NRT and see what happens. I also joined the YMCA today and am going to start really working on getting my body back into shape. The hip problem will be painful but I can do some stuff as far as weight lifting and water stuff. The doctor resched. me for Nov 23. I really don't want to wait until then to talk to her. I am thinking about finding another doctor for that matter. 'bang head'

I had some cravings today but won't even think about touching a tin. I go to the doc tomorrow and I am going to talk to her about my NRT. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I did, but in a lot of pain with my hip. Oh well, drive on I will!
Good luck with the doc today Scrofford.

About the pain in your hip, just an observation from my own addiction, and my own quit. I always refused to exercise properly and get proper nutrition when dipping. While you're with the doc, maybe you can get some advice on proper exercise, nutrition, stretching, supplementing, etc for your particular condition.
Thanks for the tip..I have degenerative hip disease and have a very hard time with "cardio" exercise. I do lift weights for my upper body which helps to burn fat, but I wish I could run or even just walk a good distance again. I have to get some weight off before I can have my hip replaced. So diet and weights are what I am doing right now. Its very frustrating because I used to train Kung Fu and loved it. Someday I will get back into it.
