One of them was so drunk he could barely sit up straight (was drinking a white zinfandel at 9:30 on a Sunday morning... WTF)
What kind of a bar did you say this was?
hehe... now that's funny.
But it was... FABULOUS!!!! *jazzhands*
I thought I read somewhere that the place was called "The Blue Oyster". I could be mistaken though.

Another Wake Up Call:

Rick Jeanneret fighting throat cancer; Sabres voice plans return

He had the biopsy June 11 and cancer was diagnosed June 19. His reaction was understandable. “It was a little bit of trepidation,” said Jeanneret, who stopped smoking more than 20 years ago. “It is the great unknown for me now.

20 fucking years later... and we were slaves to that bitch. It's all around us folks... As sad as each of these stories are, it strengthens my quit and appreciation of each and every one of you. Proud to be quit with you again today! QLF!

Very interesting.......Think about it....Put a cigarette in the hand of every ball player who is dipping and put them out in the field....Would baseball and the public tolerate it?

CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit.
After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco. SportDad 1/13/05

Was out of town this weekend celebrating the Wife's grandfather's 90th birthday (WW2 vet... bad ass). We went to a casino in Michigan City, IN which was between the two camps (us in the Cleveland area, they in the Chicago area). With 3 little kids running around I didn't get any table time in the casino until yesterday (Sunday) morning for about 40 minutes or so. Casino was essentially empty and I was sitting playing blackjack with 2 other guys. One of them was so drunk he could barely sit up straight (was drinking a white zinfandel at 9:30 on a Sunday morning... WTF) and the other was on a losing streak like you've only heard of.

As we headed into our 2nd shoe, drunk dude pops open a can of Kodiak and proceeds to start spitting in his wine glass.

I'm just now realizing that it didn't even phase me. I didn't give it a second thought. Didn't crave for it at all. Just sort of felt bad for the guy cause I know what it's like to be that guy.

Freedom is a beautiful thing.

My name is Jeremy. This is day 7 for me. I feel pretty good. It could just be the addiction talking but I feel as if it wasn't the nicotine that I was craving - rather dipping was just something I did in certain situations. Again, thats probably the addiction talking!

I am by far no expert on quitting, nor have I been sober for very long - I just wanted to offer this tid-bit of advice to those who may have gone through the same experiences or will soon.

Most of my cravings have come from times when I catch myself thinking, "hmmmm, this is normally when I would have a dip." As soon as I find myself in that situation I immediately find something to do different. Funny thing is, it just so happens that most of those times when I typically dip, its been during unproductive situations - sitting on my ass, watching TV, riding home from work. Now that I remove myself from those situations - my productivity has picked up! Figure that.

'boob' Had to do this one....everyone loves boobs
There are 2 aspects that you quit Jeremy: physical and fixation.

The physical side is your addiction. You go through withdrawals for the first 3-7 days days because nicotine is highly addictive. It compels people to ruin their health by hiding inside of a poisonous plant. Nicotine is evil. It attaches itself to neurons in your brain and convinces your body that all good things start and end with nicotine.

The fixation side of your quit is the habit. It is the empty feeling in your lip. Habits can be broken, but addictions will always be there. And, you sir, are still am addict.

You're just not using right now.

I'm glad day 7 is treating you well, but don't get too big for your britches. When times are good, practice for the bad. Sharpen your quit tools. When times are bad, rely on them. Use them. A burst of adrenaline is common after the initial suck, and it feels great. Enjoy it, but prepare. There's a funk that will come around day 16-20 that will sneak up on you without preparation.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. I get to go down this path one time, I want to do it right. I recognize that my word, my integrety to you is on the line and is only as good as my actions. Caving is not an option in this plan-Eafman 7/11

I am not cured. I will quit one day at a time. I will continue to do what works. Posting roll everyday. To do otherwise would be foolish on my part. You can do this-Ready 12/11

To overcome your addiction you must comprehend what it means to fail-Razd 3/12

Theres a lot of people that come here, especially vets, that WANT to be reminded that they are addicts.-Tarpon 6/12

Just as a building starts with architectural drawings. Your daily quit begins with a promise.-Scowick 2/13

Here and now, focused on today, minute by minute, whatever it takes, I promise to all my bros and myself not to become a negative stat and stay quit!-krok 1/15

As soon as I find myself in that situation I immediately find something to do different.

Hi, my name is Ben. I'm 25 and have been chewing for approx 11 -12 years. I've lost 5 of my friends and my brother in law this year. All younger than me. I've had my last dip in after lunch this afternoon. Been thinking bout it for 2 months. Done research and feel like a huge block has lifted off me by finding this site. I don't want to die young. I have no clue where to start I've read all the starter blogs. I chewed a can to a can n half a day. Plz help!
Welcome brother.

You are in the right place.

It's late so I can't write much.

Go to the Welcome Center. Read EVERYTHING.

Find October 2014 in the Quit Groups.

Post your promise not to dip today.

Keep your word.

Come back tomorrow and do it again.

My name is Nolaq. If I can do this. You can.

PM me if you get lost. We can help you find your way.

Ben, how are you doing today? I know you can do this. I was a smoker, today I posted 893. You, too, will be here. One day at a time, one moment-by-moment. You have my support. I'm KGirl and welcome.

today I am starting the quitting process again.
You never quit before. Or you wouldn't be posting this.
Read the welcome center and post roll, get involved around here.
There are plenty of distractions to help you through the suck,
buckle up and enjoy the ride.
I'm quit because of this ^^^ guy. Find some others in your group and get their #'s. Roam and I spent hours on the phone those first months encouraging each other and just providing a distraction. We're now at 800 days quit proving it works every day.
....well, technically, I have a few days to go..... #oldguyscantcount
;)
I can count and know you have a couple days and I'm a couple weeks over. Because of the brotherhood and accountability in our BOQ I was giving you those days because I expect it out of you. I have my name in the BOQ roll call today along side Mstt and that has meaning, we fight this battle together and hold each other accountable. Quit on!
4/1/2012: Nicotine Quit Date
7/9/12: HOF The Missing Warning Label
TODAY is the day that counts
