Found this site searching for alternatives for chew, started my quit that day. Had been 1+ can a day for 15 years, I am on day 3 now with now chew but i am using grinds and teaza but I kinda feel like I'm cheating using these.
My two cents... you're not cheating.

You're not using nicotine and you're not using tobacco. Fake dip like Grinds and Teaza are tools... and great ones at that. Use them.

One day, if you're like me, you just won't reach for them any more. For me that was around day 200 or so into my quit but I'd always said that I'd rather chew a can per day of the fake stuff for the rest of my life then to ever have another dip of Kodiak.

Congrats on day 3!

So I'm on day 4 without putting a dip in. But the first two days I had on a 21mg patch that expired 10 years ago that I found in a box of crap. So am I on day 4 or day 2?
We go by your nic free date here... so you'd be on day 2.

Congrats on that by the way... that's HUGE!!!

Hey guys. I quit one week ago today. I dipped pretty regularly for about 7 years, I'm 25 now. Im reaching out to see if anyone who has successfully quit can tell me more about what their mouth went through during the first couple of weeks? I was expecting the hardest part would be fighting craves but it's actually been trying to calm myself down about all the weird feelings and stuff my mouth is seemingly going through. Fvck tobacco!!! I'm so mad I let it in my life for so long.
Hey Collun, congrats on being quit one week, that's awesome. My mouth felt the same way after quitting. There is a lot of great info on this site, so look around and read as much as you can. This is an article from the main KTC website under the "Your Quit", "What to expect when you quit dipping"

Sores In Your Mouth (lip, tongue, cheek, etc.) – you’re done dipping… why does your mouth hurt so damn bad? You’ve got more sores in your mouth now than when you were dipping. What’s going on?!? There are a couple of explanations for this one. First, if you’re like most of us, you’ve found something to replace your dip to get you past the oral fixation (See Smokeless Alternatives). If you’re chewing seeds then there’s a TON of salt in your mouth that wasn’t there before. Also once you get dip out of your system the PH balance in your mouth is changing. Bottom line is this – get to a dentist and get checked out. But unless something stays around for more than two weeks you should be good to go.
I also believe firmly that once we quit we tune in to every single thing that goes on in our mouths. We tend to try and ignore things when we are dipping and write them off as "whatever". Once we quit we are really playing close attention. I have been quit since Dec 1 of last year and just last night while brushing my teeth my toothbrush hit something that was sore on my gum. I immediately was thinking "ok what was THAT?!?"
Not that you don't need to go get things checked out but chances are these aren't things that haven't always been going on here or there but we ignored them. Just keep your chin up and be positive until you have reason not to

That's my .02 cents worth on that

I threw my can out today. I've done it numerous times. I dumped what I had left in the toilet and flushed it. I'm a 32 year old female. I feel ashamed I got addicted to this but I'm serious about quitting. I hate having nasty spit bottles laying around plus I met a guy who doesn't know I chew and I really want to quit for myself and him. I run 5k's and ride bike in cycling events. Sadly I got in the habit of justifying that its ok to chew because I work out. Well now it isn't ok.
I am totally getting you on the working out thing. I run 4 days a week, I surf, I skate and I also work out with a personal trainer 3 times a week. For a very long time I felt like "hey I take great care of myself so this can't hurt me" almost like I was above cancer. Whatever.......

In the back of my mind I knew better. I am in northeast Florida and not sure where all this radio commercial was played in the US but it was an auctioneer and he was going over the ages and steps from starting to dip and then onto gum disease, tooth decay and then oral cancer. Anyone else heard that?

I would have to turn the radio station when that would come on. That told me although I felt like I was healthy enough to be ok I really knew I was playing a game with myself. Emotions and mental games can surely put us in messes and we are never ever safe from the "C" word. No one is. People that never smoked have gotten lung cancer. The chances are low for oral cancer I'm pretty certain but I'd rather not do it at all and have those chances.

You just made the best decision of your life! It isn't easy, but as someone that is at 1,058 days clean, I can honestly say that this site saved my life. Take the posting seriously, and ask for help if you need to. Everyone here knows what you are going through, and truly cares about you! Don't be too proud to ask for help.

Congrats on taking your life back!
